I have many, many years of management in the collection of past due accounts. I have provided training classes (on technique and on FDCPA collection laws) and worked for companies like GMAC (a division of General Motors Acceptance Corp.), Green Tree, an oil company, and TRW-Receivables Management. I've been responsible from everything to credit cards, automobile payments, mortgages, charged-off accounts, and general past due invoices.

That being said, do you think that someone with my experience should offer collection of past due receivables? Maybe even consulting?

It sounds like it would be a good niche for you. You know a lot about collection laws, so clients would not need to worry about being out of compliance with federal law.

Thanks for your input. I decided that I will start offering these services for a percentage of the amount collected. I think it is a needed benefit for small business and anyone who either doesn't have the knowledge or doesn't really want to be bothered with the process.
