Default Administrative Services
I am trying to determine what services I would like to offer. For the past 9 years I have worked full time in an office doing Data Entry, so that is something I would like to continue doing. I also love doing basic secretarial and administrative work. I am considering offering secretarial and administrative services in my VA business. What secretarial and administrative services could a VA offer?

Michele,

Make a list of everything you do under secretarial and administrative work.

For example, secretarial might be creating documents, transcribing notes, creating brochures, invitations and answering the telephone.

Then go through that list and mark off everything you don't like to do.

Then figure out who would need your services. Will you market to attorneys, real estate agents or authors?

Bear in mind that many business owners are document-savvy and can type their own letters and documents. So I would be very specific with what services you feel would be in-demand.

Janine

Typing services, document management, travel arrangements, desktop publishing....the list goes on. Brainstorm and create a list of all the task/duties you recall completing in an office setting. After you come up with that list go through it to see which duties you could realistically complete virtually.

Kind of gave up on my VA dream for a few months. Happy to sign back on and see some new info! Great input, as I'm considering including "administrative support" as well!

I would try to target the small business owners, those who don't have regular employees, so they can outsource their work to you. I like working with documents and did that on the job for many years.

I like the idea of focusing on small businesses, my question is where do contact information for these businesses?

I have been really successful in finding small businesses at local networking events. This is a prime area for small businesses to go and connect with other businesses. A website you might try is meetup.com.

Good luck!
