Wacky, wacky mousie!!
My mouse has been acting very wacky for the last couple weeks. Here's the scoop:
When I click on something that needs a single click to open, more times than not, it opens two instances of a program (e.g. Outlook, Word, Acrobat Pro) or websites. When I copy and paste, it will paste two of stuff. Selecting text, etc. is a real PITB too - selects too much, or not enough. Oy.
That's just a few things I can think of off the top of my head right now. It is darn irritating!!
I have a USB MS Optical IntelliMouse, and it is less than a year old. I tried disconnecting it and reconnecting, slowing down the double-click speed, etc. Still has a mind of its own. Also scanned my computer for viruses, and nothing was amiss there.
Any ideas? (ARG - just now I clicked to add the little emoticon, and wouldn't ya know it - TWO popped in there!)

Re: Wacky, wacky mousie!!
Aww Jules! You've killed your mouse!
Thankfully they're fairly inexpensive. Just to be sure, it would be great if you had one laying around somewhere or attached to another machine that you could try. You know, just to be absolutely certain.
One thing you could do is remove the two or three (maybe even four) small screws on the bottom and pulling the top off. You could just have a lot of dust build-up interfering with your clicks.
Good luck!!!

I knew that was going to be the answer and that YOU would answer me.
I'm not taking the blame for killing my mousie though - I'm blaming it on my kitties. Although, kind of hard for them to do since they don't have access to my office.
Oy. New mouse in my future; I refuse to take the darn thing apart.
Thanks Winston!

Re: Wacky, wacky mousie!!
Ah Jules, the bane the "over-clicker" LOL
I just went through this my mine and hubs computers. First my wireless mouse would double-click all on it's own which is really inconvenient when you are trying to design in photoshop. You should see some of the odd designs I've had
Finally got that replacement and hubs started complaining that his mouse for the desktop wasn't registering clicks unless he pressed hard. so off to the store again to get a replacement for him.
I can say it was "over-clicker" syndrome because I have been bombarded with design requests lately so been spending a lot of time clicking, dragging, drawing, etc. And Hubs recently found a game on FB that involves TONS of clicking (shooting).
Give your old mousie a nice send-off and rejoice in your new "sparkly" mouse. You are getting a "sparkly" one, right? to go with your personality?

Haha, yeah but you mouse is dead R.I.P.
Have you ever tried a wireless gaming mouse? I have one and its taken tons of abuse and still works great. They are built to take tons of clicks, and possibly be thrown around by angry gamers, not that I have....
I have however accidentally dropped it off the desk many times and it's still working great.
