Default Used Laptops?
I am in need of a new laptop but can't afford the "new" ones! Does anyone know of somewhere that sells used "gently" laptops? For example ones that perhaps were floor models, or if a company upgrades to new technology and the laptop is only a few years old with lots of life, etc.

Most stores have close out models or refurbished editions either in their brick and mortars or online stores. With the holiday season approaching and the state of the US economy you may also find a new model rather inexpensively.

I purchased my current laptop at the holiday time and got a great deal. I also purchased one for my daughter in college and saves hundreds of dollars. Don't forget to ask for the best deal possible for some stores may take additional discounts. And if shopping on line search for coupon codes to see if there may be any unadvertised specials.

I'd recommend trying to get a deal on a new laptop - with the current economy, I'm sure prices will be good before Christmas. There was something on the news this morning about stores discounting already. I'd be afraid of the condition of used laptops, who knows what was done to them by the previous owner. Any savings by buying a used laptop may not be real savings if the laptop dies after six months or a year - buying a new laptop for a bit more and if you get 3 or 4 years out of it may be more economical in the long run.

How much are you looking to spend on a laptop? Prices here in Canada are a little different than the states, but your dollar is worth more here too - so you may end up with a better deal even dealing with shipping and duty.

What about the smaller screen laptops? They're much cheaper than the "regular" ones. The stores here like Best Buy and Staples often have the lower end brands on sale for under $400.00

You can also find some really good deals on Ebay as well. Their laptops range from about $200 and up. I've found some really good deals on there. You can get them used, new , or refurbished. I like refurbished because their almost in new running condition.

Laptops are so cool! I use a Dell Inspiron 1501. It is not only portable but serves as a space-saving desktop as well.

Hubby is into flea market as a hobby and ran across a gently used Dell Inspiron. It actually held up well for almost two years. When it finally seen its last days, I was able to purchase a new Dell Vostro 1500. I've had it since the beginning of this year. I love it! Especially the portability of it and as a back up to my desktop.
