Has anyone purchased the T Mobile G1 phone? I need a phone that will allow to check my emails during the day and check the internet as necessary, when I am at work. I do not want to use my work computer for such things. I currently have T Mobile as a service provider, I was debating between the G1 phone and the Blackberry.

I have a T mobile Dash...(similar to a blackberry) and it works great I can get online, check email and do what I need to do. I love my phone b/c it has a full key board which I love that way I don't hit certain key a number of times the correct letter I want. My hubby has the G1 and he loves it as well its has lots of bells and whistles on it but I think it just depends on what all you want on your phone. Like I said I love my smart phone b/c it does what I need it to do and is my geared towards my needs where as my hubby's has lots of cool features, like gps, music player, games and etc.

I looked on the T Mobile site for the Dash and it was out of stock. My plan is to purchase a new phone in May, I'll see if it is available at that time. I do like the idea of a full keyboard.

i honestly didnt like the dash. i have had blackberrys in the past but i was limited on the things i can do. I currently have the G1 - its basically the tmobile version of At&t's Iphone. gives you the option to do more then just check your email.

What did you end up getting Shante? I have the Dash and hate it!I was looking at the G! because frankly, I don't like the keyboards on the touch screens like the G3 has. Then I went to T-Moblie yesterday and the tech showed me a new phone coming out Nov. 7th...WOW! I love it. But it still between G1 and the new one. I have heard so much negative feedback on the blackberry's that it made it never an option.

I have a G1 and enjoy it. The keyboard slides from the screen flawlessly.

Like ShanteM, I am also at work during the day and regularly check my email messages on my Blackberry. I love the fact that I can receive and send email no matter where I am.

Can't you do that one the G1? Send and receive messages, I mean.

I've had a Blackberry for quite a few years now, started out with one of those large blue ones. Today I use a pearl and love it because of the size, and familiarity with it's functions. So many new phones coming out now I just may get something different but I can keep in touch (even with VAF) when I am away from the office.

I'm sure that by the time my contract is up there will be a new generation of phones for me to choose from.
