Default OMG...this is so much fun...2nd screen
I am a new VA...no clients yet but I know that they are coming and I want to be prepared. One of the things that I wanted was a 2nd monitor but didn't want to spend much money until I am in business and have clients. I wanted a monitor to avoid printing documents that will need edits. It will save paper, ink and TREES. So I checked out craigslist and found a flat screen monitor that is like new, in great condition but a bit older. It works perfectly and I am having fun playing with it. And the best part is that it only cost me $20. Isn't that awesome!!! So...I have it hooked up and am trying to figure out how to run a screen saver on it...any other fun ideas for practicing with it? I am hooking a friend up with linked in and she sent me pdfs of her resume so now I can pull the pdf up on the 2nd screen to type it into linkedin. Woohoo. I am one happy lady.

Jody,

I am a new VA aswell, and no clients yet either, but I know that they will come. However, I am preparing for them. Congrats on a wonderful deal on the monitor.

Best wishes with your business.

Dual monitors are the BEST! I use mine, Jody, for the same thing...document retypes, edits, etc. I also use it at times to keep my email or calendar open while I'm working on something else. Or my hootsuite if I'm expecting a tweet. I'm traveling right now and just have my laptop screen.... I feel a bit lost! lol

Very cool Jody, congrats on the 'new' technology! I agree, it is great to have multiple screens to work on - you don't really realize how much time it will save throughout the day unti you've done it.

Enjoy!

I've been using dual monitors for 4 years or more. I currently have two 23 inch screens. It is wonderful and the amount of money you save in printing more than compensates for any amount you spend on the 2nd monitor.

If anyone is thinking for going this route, just be sure that you computer has the right hardware on your computer.

I think it is time I look into a 2nd monitor! I have two pc's (desktop & laptop) so depending on my mood for the day...some days I work on my laptop..others on my desktop. But boy that second screen would be great for when I am working on my desktop. Especially for the same reasons share...to save on paper and printing!! THANKS FOR THE GREAT IDEA!

I agree! Two monitors are better than one!!! I have always just used my laptop but had a 20" monitor connected to a sloooooooow desktop that we never use, so I hooked up the "big screen" next to my laptop and it's great! Thanks for the idea Jody!

I just started using two monitors this week and I am addicted to it! It is so much more convenient than just one.

I wanted 2 monitors, but can't afford the expense right now. The monitor that I do have is really big (not sure the size). Just recently discovered an add-on that firefox has called split. You can open two screens (or more), browsers or whatever. Plus with a large enough screen I can open a browser and another program at the same time side by side.
