2 Questions here for those who have had netbooks for a little bit.

1) Anyone add memory or know if memory can be added and how that went?

2) I am looking to putting a few programs on a netbook (Office Professional 2007 and Adobe Captivate), anyone put programs on their netbook??

Any insite to this will be appreciate.

I had a sweet Netbook and was thrilled with the battery life. The only program I installed was Office 2007. I then traveled with the netbook as my only computer and quickly became disenchanted. Most netbooks you can not add additional ram memory. I had trouble with just doing blog entries. Internet connection was slowing and transferring between windows was tedious. If you are only checking your email or typing a letter a netbook is great. If you are a power user don't get one. I promptly returned mine after my business trip as it was useless. By the way mine was an Acer 10.1" screen with 1 gb ram and 160 gb hard drive running Windows XP. The wordpress screen would not show all at one time and it was frustrating trying to edit in the windows. Finally used Notepad and cut and pasted.

We have two - I use mine now for Netflix and Pandora while I'm on the stationary recumbent bike in the extra bedroom My husband uses his a bit more often than I use mine, but he gave up trying to use it for actual work months ago.

Like Lisa discovered they are hard to really work with when it comes to actual WORK. And there is not much room in them, although we changed the RAM in both and it was pretty easy [for Hamid, that is ]. But it's really more a functionality issue that prevents these from being viable work machines.

Thanks for the feedback. I was considering one as a back-up/mobile system. Guess it really is not an option based on what you are saying. That refurbed Thinkpad is looking better all the time!
