Default Need a new wireless router
Well, my Belkin wireless router went kaput (for good) on me today. I need to buy another one and I'm hoping you all can offer some suggestions on a reliable wireless router that isn't too expensive. I've had problems with the Belkin off and on for a while now, and the customer service is less than stellar too, so I'd like to switch to another brand.

Any and all suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Carol,

I have used D-link for years now and have had no issues with it. Also, Linksys is pretty good. Check out www.tigerdirect.com, they have some pretty good prices for routers. You should be able to find one for less than $50. Hope this helps.

Sheila

I use Linksys and have had no problems with it. I got it from my local Staples store.

I got a cradlepoint. It is great because it accepts my wireless internet stick to provide internet to all of my home computers and also has an adapter to work in the cigarette lighter in the car (or camper). It's only about as big as a cell phone. Works great!

I actually have a modem and wireless router in one: Motorola (from Best Buy). I really like it and works well with 4 wireless computers in the house. Good luck on your search.

Hi Carol - I've had a Linksys router for a few years and never had an issue with it. We've got 8 PC's, a mac and an Xbox all running in the house. Oh and I bought in on Ebay.
Hope that helps,
Susan

I have a Trendnet wireless router. So Far So Good! I actually went to buy a Linksys and salesman talked me into the trendnet router. Only complaint I have is when I was setting it up the customer service rep told me I was "stupid" (ya seriously used that word) for thinking I could set up a wirless router with a USB internet connection But, I did it and I called him back to let him know I accomplished it too From what I've read/heard Lynksys is suppose to be a good one.

I have an ActionTec that is older than dirt and got it when I got my DSL way back when. It even works great here in the middle of nowhere! I like the others did here that Lynksys has some good models as well.

Did you try calling your service provider to see if they are running any specials on equipment? With all the competition out there now it is worth a shot and you may end up with a freebie.

You people rock! Thanks for your suggestions.

Kena, some people are unbelievable! How dare that service rep call you stupid! Good for you for calling back and telling him you got it fixed.

Lee, I did that and my service provider suggested I get a NetGear! Crazy, huh?

Hi, I also have a Linksys and haven't had trouble with it. I like it and would purchase it again if I had to replace my current unit.
