Default Need Help Windows 7 Computer Problems
Hi,

Looking for some help for my daughter. She has a dell computer with Windows 7. This morning when she booted up it took forever, like 25 minutes to boot up. This told her that she had a problem, but she is not techie.

When she tried running Essentials the computer would shut down. Also the time on the computer is about a hour and a half ahead of what it should be for her time zone. So if anyone has any ideas, or knows what might be causing this please let me know, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ruth, I asked my husband (the tech guru who's rescued/repaired hard drives on all of my machines more times than I can count) what he thought. He says:

-restart the computer
-while it's booting up, hold the F8 key down (you have to hold it down starting before you see the Windows logo)
-then you'll see a menu (all in text)
-choose 'Safe Mode'
-fix the time while in safe mode
-then restart the computer

If it restarts normally (doesn't take 25 mins etc.) then you should be good to go. If that doesn't work then she probably has a virus. You can post back if that's the case and he'll make more suggestions.

Hope it helps!
