I switched over to my IMAC last year and I would never go back to pc. I do have a small pc laptop with no cd/dvd drive that is handy to have and portable to carry around the house. I keep thinking of buying a macbook pro, just can't quite justify the cost right now. (except when my pc laptop freezes up etc etc etc) Eventually I will be all MAC. I haven't had a single
problem with my imac in over a year, can't say that for my pc's! Mac's really are worth the extra money!

As I type, I'm setting up (with husbands help!) my new iMac. I'm a former PC user, but apparently very influenced by the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. I'm hoping I've entered a "hassle-free" zone and looking forward to all the multi-media capability for my personal use. As far as my business goes, virtually everything I do is through the internet (I don't use any specialized programs) so I'm hoping the transition will be very smooth!

Hi Angie!
You are going to LOVE your imac. Let us know what you think once you've had a chance to play around with it. Have fun!

I have a Dell PC but am thinking of getting a Mac. My daughter has a Mac laptop and loves it. My son though says that since I have been PC from the start I will probably not like the Mac.

I don't know though every time my PC freezes I start seeing Macs again.

Opinions welcome.

I really need to have both. I don't think that Visio is available for the Mac and I use it occasionally.

I don't agree with your son. A Mac is very easy to use and was exceedingly simple to set up. If you feel like going with a Mac, I say go for it! Word 2008 for the Mac has fixed the compatibility issues with Word on a PC.

I typically use both. I have a Mac Pro and Dell Precision workstation as my desktops and 17" MacBook Pro using Parallels to make use of Windows and Linux if needed. I can say that I've been leaning more towards my Mac systems as they have been very reliable thus far. A bit on the pricey side but it has been money well spent in terms of fewer headaches, ease of use, and easy troubleshooting if the need arises.

This is a great thread! I have actually been trying to decide if I would go with a Mac laptop in my near future so it is great to hear everyone's feedback. Just to clarify - if I install the Parallels software on the Mac I should be able to use my Adobe programs which are all PC based? That is very important as I used my 'education' budget last year to get the new Adobe CS3 release (of course the new CS4 has better package options). Clarification would be great. Thanks.

Hi Tammy,

When you install Parallels on your Mac and install your Windows operating system into Parallels, you will have full functionality of all of your PC based software as I know. I have Windows XP Pro as one "guest OS", Windows Vista as another and Ubuntu Linux as another and all the programs work with no problem. It saves me a lot of time because some apps are made for Mac only and some for PC only. It helps to have the best of both worlds on one computer.

I could provide you with some really easy to use instructions and tips when you need it.

Thanks for the info Melvin! I did actually head over to the Apple store after posting to drool over their laptops (I can't believe how thin the MacBook Air is...though I want a bigger screen so it won't work for my purposes but still - technology sure has come a long way!). Looking forward to the day when I can say...I've got a Mac

I just don't have the time to learn a new operating system, otherwise I would have both.

I bought a MacBook Pro about a month ago and I love it. I don't think I would ever go back to PC.

I did need to learn new things with Mac but it was fairly easy and quick to learn.

I have a PC both desktop and laptop and I sync it with my BlackBerry which I couldn't live without! I used to be bi-lingual... I used a Mac at college but not since!
