I don't know exactly how much room gotomypc.com has but my brother uses it all the time and loves it. He's a major techie head and swears by it. He does also use an external drive (as do my husband and I). Glad you were able to find one at Walmart and solve your problem!

You may need to just burn all your files to a CD-Rom using a program on your computer that allows to you to do burn Data files. Some software programs already come on your computer such as: Sonic or RecordNow. As far as any software you have stored on there that you use for client stuff/work...try networking the computers together before sending the other off to the doctor. Go to your help menu and type in Computer Networking and it will tell you how to do it.

Hope this helps.

I love my external hard drive and feel comfortable knowing I can take all my information with me if I ever need to. It's tiny, too, which is nice.

An external hard-drive is great as well. However, always keep your important files updated and placed on CD to have as backup.

In answer to an earlier question, I would not be comfortable using an on-line storage facility. I KNOW they claim total security, however, my computer guy showed me in under 10 minutes that he could hack into my files! Scary!!

GoToMyPC doesn't store files, it simply allows you to access another computer remotely. I use LogMeIn, which is the same type of program. I have it on both my laptop and my desktop and use the file manager feature to synchronize the mydocuments file on both computers so no matter where I go, I always have the files I need.
