Default Card Scanners
I have recently found Card Scanners as a way to quickly (at least quicker than typing) input business cards into a spreadsheet to upload into a contact management system. Has anyone used this system? If so, what brand card scanner are you using?

Thank you for any information you share.

I don't have or use a card scanner, I just don't have need of one I suppose BUT I was reminded of my very first project as a Virtual Assistant - my client had copied over 200 business cards onto single sheets, so there were about ten cards on each sheet. She then faxed me each sheet and I manually entered all of the information from each card into an XL sheet.... had I had more information at the time I would have advised her to invest my hourly rate in a card scanner and do it herself simply for all the time it took to get that task done.

I'm curious too about what brands people are using - or is no one else using a card scanner in their business??

I use NeatWorks (with a portable scanner). I use mine for both My Office Assistant and my clients. I like that I can also scan whole sheets, receipts and cards. Just about anything and with it being portable it goes everywhere with me.

The software section on the card scan part allow me to export to VCard, cvv, pdf and other formats. It has saved me tons of time by scanning and exporting.

A network friend suggested I purchase CardScanner. She said it was the most reliable and accurate one on the market. The cost online is $279.00 but I found one on ebay at $140.00. There were a couple of used ones for less than that. I want to purchase one since I am trying to get clients by offering to do the scanning and a newsletter as a package deal.

I'm glad to see the discussions on business card scanners. I REALLY need something affordable, fast, multi-export solutions, high capacity. One of my primary clients is an incredible networker. I've just started supporting him, and he's already given me over 200 cards to input into a contact management system (still to be selected).

I appreciate any suggestions.

l inherited a card scanner at a previous employment, unused, price tag Can$250. The in house tech at the time said it had never worked, shrugged and walked away. I got it running well but as business cards are so varied in colour and layout, each one had to be tweaked and corrected, such that I reckoned it would have been easier and faster to type them in. I don't recall the make of the scanner.

I have discussed card scanners with several others who also agree the the CardScanner system is the most accurate. A couple of people have send me a message after scanning my card into the Card Scanner which shows my card in full color and the information the CardScanner extracted from my card. I've not had any problems with this system.

I have a card scanner at work and it is great. I will check the name of it tomorrow and repost but it scans directly into outlook and automatically creates a contact. Great tool!

Ok - I'm at work now, it's called an IRIS Card mini. Thanks.
