Considered it but bought the small Macbook Pro instead. My phone lets me check email and browse websites easily.

I have a netbook (by ASUS) and I love it. I have Remote Desktop Connectivity setup on it too.

My kids each have one. I thought they would be great for hauling around. Fit in a purse. Lightweight. But I can't read the darn thing. The screen really is too small. I think even for someone that has perfect vision, doing any amount of work on it would be difficult.

My plan is to purchase a netbook this year for travel and when I'm heading out and know I'll have to wait around. I use a back up syncing program that will allow me sync my working Laptop with my Netbook and I'll use it when I'm traveling. I don't plan on using it as my main computer system, simply for the size of screen and I don't want to have to invest in a screen as well.

I think Netbooks are a great idea to supplement your current system, but I can't imagine it being the main system simply because I don't think they are yet robust enough to handle regular and constant daily use.

I have a four 3 year old Acer with a 15"-ish screen. My son has a Netbook with about a 10" screen. My Acer was in the shop getting an upgrade. I used my sons' Netbook for about a week. It served its purpose, but I could not imagine having to deal with a screen so small on an ongoing basis. Especially if I was editing or creating spreadsheets or large documents. But that is just me and my preference. I think I am half blind from staring at computers for the last 10 years, so I have to use larger fonts. This is where I need to have a larger screen to get everything on one page without scrolling left, right, up, left, right, etc.
If I was just getting started and my funds were really tight, I would buy a Netbook in a heartbeat. In fact, Verizon has a special right now where you can get one from them for $30 if you sign up for a 2 year contract for their wireless internet. I am not sure about the exact terms though.
