Hi, not to worry - we've all been there!

If you haven't read the PM that landed in your message box here on the site when you first signed up, check it out - there are tons of links in there to great resources, including the free getting started as a virtual assistant download which will help you get organized and focused.

It has been advised to me to three 3 different programs- some clients don't know where to start either, some want something specific and some want to start with the basics. If you only have the entire kitchen sink you may loose 80% of the people you talk to.

I agree with Tess you are at the right place. Just a few days ago I too felt so overwhelmed with all the good information available here on VAF until I remembered that PM in my message box that included the free getting started as a virtual assistant download. I feel more organized now while I am going through the workbook and I am at the section which suggests preparing a business plan (a free business plan template is also included). Woohooo...I am rolling on. Thank you so much VAF!! I am so glad I found this forum.

There is lots of free information available on the internet check out the IVAA and the Canadian VA Associations - they also provide a variety of information for free. You can also check ODesk and other hiring services who want to keep clients informed - to do so they provide a wealth of industry information.

@ Tess.. Thank you for that reminder about the inbox message.. I just realized that I never even bothered to look at it when I first joined, (I guess I was too anxious to get started); so I will be checking it out.

I'm new also and still in school, hope to graduate in May. I was overwhelmed with all the information and trying to keep up in my classes. I printed out the getting started as a va info and set up a folder so I could work on things at my lesiure. I know I can't actually get started until I have my degree but this way I can hit the ground running when I do graduate. Also check with your local agencies to see if there is any licenses that are required.
