So Ladies!
After posting this, I must say that I slept very well last night. I am so excited about starting my business.

Goddess, I would like to contact you with more questions, if I have any in the near future. I would like to keep this thread going with any other Part-time VA's.

Thanks and have a blessed day!

I plan on working my VA business part time at least for the next 6 months before I end my contract I'm on currently.

Lily, I don't plan on telling my boss either! I have been in no rush to launch my business, so I have been able to take the time with my business plan, website, and all those things we need to do prior to launching. I'm actually designing my own website using Microsoft Office Live (it is almost complete. I am actually quite proud of it!)

I wasn't aware of how many people are actually in the same position as me, and it is great being able to share ideas and experiences

Great quote Robin. I work full time, I will be a part time virtual assistant until I gather enough business to go full time. I think organization and focus are a few of the key ingredients that you need to become a successful VA. If you have that you should be fine.

For the past three years I am a PT VA working 7:30 to 4:00. Someday I hope to become FT. This is why I subcontract learn from others and gain the experience before going on my own.

It is a great way to start.

I unfortunately have to start off part-time. I work full-time (8:30 to 4:30) and attend (2) 3 hour classes each week for my Master's Degree and on top of that I am a mother to one child. I am starting off my business now but I am taking it step by step and I am hoping to be fully free from working for someone else in about 2 years - maybe less. The thing that scares me tho is that my job gives me benefits and I do not know how I will afford them if I go on my own. But on the same notion I just cannot work for anyone for the rest of my life.

My current boss knows I am in the process of trying to start my own business and she is great and supportive.

Hello all...I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one in the part-time VA game. I did land a few one-time clients last year. However, I'm yet to identify anyone willing to take on a full-time or part-time VA on a steady basis. I'm still having trouble selling the VA concept in my area. I'm wondering if the problem is due to everyone having a computer these days, with so many easy-to-learn programs out there, that it's almost impossible to find anyone willing to pay for the help. Am I way out in left field thinking like this or am I missing something somewhere? I would love to go full time. However, I read all the posts from the successful VAs and wonder what I'm doing wrong. But, on the other hand their success gives me hope. Don't want to give up, but I don't want to be chasing fairytales either. Can anyone HELP! or shed some light?

Many thanks Kisha for starting this post! I too was curious as to the ability to do VA work while still employed FT out of the home. I am so thrilled to have stumbled upon this forum - I could read 24/7 for weeks and not even make a dent. There is so much solid information to be found here, along with such innovative, professional collaborators! I am just in the research phase of starting a VA business, and felt like a fish out of water, until I found you all. Many thanks to all who post, advise and share.
