Has anyone had an opportunity to work with this organization (SCORE)? I've worked with them - an organization made up of Business Professionals that volunteer their time to help people get their businesses up and running. They have models of a business plan and online training and face to face peer business counseling. My local SCORE chapter has been wonderful and supportive for me to get my business up and going, and it didn't cost me anything but the gas to go visit them in their office. They help you out online as well if driving to their office isn't an option for you. They are located all throughout the US - check them out - they are really nice people with a whole lot of knowledge.

Score is a great resource - I've had 50/50 experiences with their expert advisors...and I've recently read a thread on here about another VA who had a really disheartening experience...I guess it's just the luck of the draw in that case but they do have an excellent concept and a great set of resources.

It's really good to know you had a wonderful experience! Hopefully we'll get even more good feedback about SCORE

Score website is very interesting. I found there many reference to help me better start my VA business. Thank you for letting us know of this great tool.

There is a monthly breakfast event held in Charleston, WV, by SCORE, The State Journal [a weekly news paper] and the Charleston Marriott. Every month there is a free seminar at the hotel restaraunt, attendees are encouraged to purchase breakfast [>12.00 USD]. The speakers are almost always exceptional and very informative. You kill two birds with one stone. You get the training and a great networking opportunity!

I attend as often as my schedule allows.

I took SCORE'S Quick Start Business Plan and writing my biz plan now using that as my guide. It's a helpful website, for now I don't feel the need for mentoring. I always try to find answers to my question by research, becoming members of forum. & talking to people in the industry. I also use the SBA website. I took online courses from them too for free.

Hi all
I have been toying with the idea of a business paln as well but have decided to write to do lists ata each juncture starting with the big stuff and breakdown of each ,whie it is encouraging to write a plan I am a wahm and rarely have stretches of time that yuo need to allocate to this I hope to improve as I start but for now to lists will do

I'm glad you had a good experience with Score. I have considered meeting with a mentor but don't feel I need one at this time. It is great to know their service is available if needed.
