Default Business Guideline Instead of a Business Plan
Hello all,

I wanted to know if anyone had any input or resources that I could use to set some guidelines for my business. I know that a business plan is a great way to put your business on paper but I am not ready for that right now. I'm looking for something kind of similar but less lengthy. Just enough to get some insight about my business ideas and goals. I have a notebook with a lot of notes but I need something more organized and solid. Maybe like a roadmap guide or something of that nature.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Chaley, have you downloaded the free 'Getting Started as a Virtual Assistant' packet? It's not a business outline per se but does have a workbook that can help you get your thoughts and plans organized as well as help you brainstorm other items you may not have thought of yet.

I hope it helps!

If it's any consolation, my own 'business plan' has never been formal by any standard and is really just a notebook that grows and changes as my business does. I think a lot of the time we get stuck on this idea that we have to have a formal business plan in place and that it has to be lengthy and wordy... planning is important but it doesn't have to be perfect before you can launch your business.

Thank you Tess. I have downloaded that packet when I had first joined VAF but that was on my old computer (which I no longer have). I have just now downloaded the packet to this computer and I will look through it tomorrow.

Thanks again for your response.

Additional feedback is appreciated. There's no such thing as too much resources!

Chaley,

I've never drawn up a business plan either. You have to do things the way that works best for you.
I have a mindmap that I update and redo at various intervals. It allows me the freedom to work out different scenarios and what each involves before jumping into anything.

Don't over-think things, it'll just make you crazy lol

@ Chrisina:
I really do over think. I just want everything to be as perfect as possible when I finally launch my business. But since you said that, I have to learn to sit back, relax, and take a breather. Thank you so much for your input. I am really learning a lot from being a part of this forum - things that I haven't even thought of or considered.

@Tess:
I have checked out the workbook and it is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you again!
