Question Building a Virtual Assistant Business Question
I am just starting the planning and setup for my own VA business and although there are a few VAs in my state, there don't seem to be any too close to where I live. My question is if there aren't alot in your state/area is it harder to start a VA business? What would you say is the most effective way to bring awareness to an enterprise that is new to the area?
I'd appreciate any feedback you might offer.
Thanks in advance.
Serita

Hello Serita,

Some ways to bring awareness to your area is to join your chamber of commerce, join local networking groups and attend networking events.

When you are handing out your materials, business cards, brochures, etc. You will be able to spread the word in this way.

You can also use The Virtual Entrepreneur ezine as a handout and other ezine's that contribute to this industry.

Andrea~

Networking is most important. I posted a new article on my blog yesterday that relates to starting out as a VA and you might find it useful.

Andrea and Kathie thanks so much for the advice. I will be checking into the chamber of commerce and the blog.
How would I use the ezine as a handout? I'm a bit confused by that.

Hi Serita, I think Andrea means that you could print it out and share it with your potential clients - there's lots of info there that can help educate them....

I also wanted to point out that while local business relationships can be great to develop, you don't want to limit yourself based on location - you're virtual, so you can market to an industry, as opposed to a region.

Thanks Tess. I am hoping to attract clients virtually more than regionally. I would like to get at least a couple of local clients to add to my testimonials. I just set up my website. Still have tweaking to do. Testimonials are one thing I intend to add to my website to give credibility.

WOW!!! Great blog. Wish I would have ran across this before I posted my question about starting out small and slow. Oh well, everything happens for a reason.
Thanks for all the great info.

Kathie,
I read your blog and it really is great! I do have my website set up, but still have some editing to do and more info to add. Of course, by the time I am ready to take on my first client I hope to have it perfected.
Thanks for the great info on the blog!

You're welcome ladies. I love this industry, it's allowed me to be home almost 16 years and watch my daughters grow up. And if I can help others experience similar, then I'll do all I can. I also enjoy writing very much. Glad to be of help.

Hello! I am just starting my VA business and I have a couple questions for all of you. Did you all start out Full-time or Part-time? I am working a Full-time job (8-5) and I was thinking to start my VA business after 5 PM. Do you think that is a good idea? I am planning to launch Full-time in a year.

Thanks for all the advice!
