Post Work from home inspiration! Pictures of your home office?
Would anyone care to post any pictures of their home office? And do you use any type of special filing, or organizational shortcuts to make the best use of a small office space? I live in a condo and my office is in a little "alcove" in my daughter's bedroom. Pretty small, just enough room for a desk and a filing cabinet. So I'm interested in seeing how you all make the best use of space.

Mine is a work in progress also. I have begun to hang shelves that wrap around for pictures, binders, decor, supplies, etc. I'm figuring ways of separating my personal papers from my business papers by utilizing colorful shoebox files. My pet peeve is to have stuff/furniture on the floor level, I like to utilize wall space instead. Especially when you don't have a lot to work with in the first place.

Here are pictures of my office. Mine is a work in progress as well. I am in the process of renovating it. I bought this desk unit before I started the business and it is great for occasional use, but it sucks working at it on a daily basis because there isn't enough work space. I have a card table set up behind the chair for extra workspace.

I have all of my files and supplies in the closet. I am having additional shelving put in so I can utilize more of the space. The desk unit holds my computer, a laserjet printer, a small tv and it has shelves, drawers and a file drawer so it has a lot of storage in itself. Under the card table I have a portable file box that holds projects I am currently working on. Beside the desk there is a wrapping paper cart which holds all my wrapping paper, gift bags, cards and supplies, there is a laser printer and phone sitting on the top of it.

I wanted the space to be bright and cheery to work in every day so I painted the walls yellow and it is decorated in Mary Engelbreit.

My pics were very large when I uploaded them here, so I removed them and added them to my facebook page instead. You can see them here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oklaho...ces/7593146681

This is probably NOT what you want your office to look like!! Bare in mind that it no longer looks like this, I've just been busy over the last couple of days to take pictures of my "new" office. You can read my blogpost to see my old awful hiding spot!! http://tinyurl.com/4nflec. AND yes I was embarrassed to do this, but I needed a good push to clean it up!! It looks much better and I'll be posting soon with new pictures. I'm sure no one else's looks like my old office. I think the key for me, was to identify what I wanted in an office and then create it so that I get a positive feeling whenever I walk in. I need natural light, storage space, and room to move.

OMG Bette! I'm breaking out into hives looking at the pictures of your office! LOL I can't wait to see the "after" photos. As you can see from my office I'm a little on the anal retentative side. I can't function in clutter. I like everything hidden away or I feel like I'm being swallowed up.

Well the room ended up like that because we had the basement finished and one day I had to find a place for alot of stuff, so I quickly threw them in there... and they never left. And then more stuff went in, and I began to feel I belonged on an OPRAH show or something. Funny thing, my mental state of the clutter in the office began to affect my business, so that's the reason for the post. I needed to come clean. I'll have a new post probably tomorrow, I'm quite excited about it.

LOL, Bette! You are a brave one to share! Rebecka, your office does look so incredibly tidy.

I would post pictures of our home office but I'd have to post images of nearly every room and the back deck as well... I work all over the place (right now I am sitting in bed... )

Rebecka, I am so impressed with your office space. At the moment I am sharing some office space with my lovely husband - well the fax machine and printers are in his office - and the rest of the space is what used to be my dinning room table. I aspire to be as tidy and organised as you.

Bette, you are one very brave lady to show that room to us. There is no way that I would post any photos of my current working space as it is cluttered and untidy, so hats off to you.

My space is in the middle of renovation. Since we moved several months ago to our new "old" house (a 100 year old farmhouse) it was put on the bottom of the list of things to do. I like Tess work all over my house but mostly in the family room when no family is there. Hopefully my project will be bumped up the list to a better workable room but I would rather have a new master bath instead!

It is great seeing where everyone works!

Well, my office space is a mix of working here or there -- depending on my mood. Some mornings, I work on my laptop in bed (hey, I work at home, I can if I want to). However, much of my day and when I do my podcasting, I am in my office (which is located in the far corner of my sun porch). It is not the nicest or tidiest area, but for now, it serves its purpose.

Hi all,

I would love to be as brave as Bette and post a photo of my office but I am not. I have "converted" one of the spare bedrooms into an office. I have no shelving what so ever, I have put the beds on there side up against the wall and have used them as a shelf. My husband has promised to make a shelving unit for me but I am still waiting! I do have a desk so at least I am not working on the floor.

Some day in the not so distant future I will get my shelves and then be able to post up a photograph.

Until then I will enjoy the pictures of your offices.

Lisa, I was hoping to see the bag!

Darlene, if you ever want to rid yourself of the hat, I'll take it!

I got my pink cowgirl hat when I first went to Texas to visit family. I have it in my office and it reminds me of them (and the fact that I will ultimately one day, move there). When I move to Texas, perhaps I will ship all of my VA friends a pink cowgirl hat

Well - here goes! I wasnt gonna post pics of my "office" but here they are. Oh and I do actually have a desk, but very rarely use it. I also have a fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, external hard drive, file folder storage & a home phone. Most of my projects are basically paperless though.

The first pic. is where I spend most of my time working, seriously lol. I love my comfy recliner, and I can still be in the living room with my boys . If you will notice under the coffee table there is a basket that holds all my gadgets I frequently use. (usb sticks, external hard drive, etc)

The Second pic. I thought I would add b/c of the "Staff" shirt I had on. It is totally not for my VA'ing - just thought it helped play the part lol. My son snapped that is we were walking out the door to another function I assist with.

So, here is a pic of me and how I spend my day as a VA.

Lisa, nice set up

Darlene, I LOVE the personal touches in your office, is there a story behind the pink hat?

Kena, cute picture! Looks like Mountain Dew is an important part of your workspace

Cute staff shirt Kena. LOL I too have a laptop and do occasionally work on the couch while I'm watching TV or take the laptop outside on the back porch with me, especially if I'm just checking emails or networking. It's a necessity for me to have an office though because of the bookkeeping. I'm not anywhere near paperless yet and for security reasons I only do bookkeeping from the office. Also, having an office "exclusively" for business means I can deduct a portion of my home expenses off of my taxes.

I have to be organized, I can't function otherwise. Half the time I feel like I'm being swallowed up by paper alone, adding the 2 file cabinets in the closet has helped with that though. The office used to be kind of a catch all for things, but I have since made a place in the garage for all the extra crap.

One of these days I'll post pictures of my new office from my beach house overlooking the ocean.
