One goal I would like to work on this year for my business is to improve SEO through good links. I came across this article on Social Media Examiner entitled,
"7 Ways to Improve Your Blog SEO with Inbound Links" and wanted to share this with everyone.

We talk about SEO here on VAF and it seems so daunting but this article really helped to break things down a bit.

#2 is Create Online Press Releases - and I can personally vouch for the benefits of doing this. I wrote a press release last year about a charity project I worked on U.S. Virtual Assistant Uses Public Relations and Online Marketing Skills to Help Establish a Library in Swaziland and I was surprised to see that this came up #2 in a google search, with keywords Florida Virtual Assistant.

Nothing else that I posted last year gave me more SEO juice so it was quite astonishing. And interestingly, this was not posted on a paid site either although this may have moved my post to #1 if I did...ha!

So my resolution is to begin thinking more in terms of 'what would make for a good press release' and write more of these.

I have other goals but if I make too many lists then it is overwhelming. So I will start with working on improving SEO for my blog and sites.

Great question, Janine.

I think for me, my business goal this year would be to continue to refine my ideal client and to continue to cultivate the great clients I have into a smaller, list for whom I do more so that I'm only working with a few select clients. I've pretty much had it on my website since last May that I wasn't accepting new clients (which has allowed me to be pretty selective about who I work with) but it also gave me the room to provide current clients with more hours as they requested them and I really much prefer that over working with a wide range of clients.

I also have a client who has approached me about a possible joint venture that I would like to pursue but will need to figure out where the time will come from to help build it. More to come about that if I decide to go for it....(I guess that's not a goal as much as it is a possibility of a new adventure.)

I think your goal is a really good one. More inbound links are always good. I'll look forward to hearing more about your results.

My New Year Business resolution is to produce more podcasts. Meaning, I have many ideas for new shows and I really want to launch them and ultimately take the step to make an ongoing income from podcasting.

Also, I am taking a creative writing class this coming semester at my college, so writing is a must on my blog and two books I've started, but have yet to finish.

2011 is my year to be creative and I look forward to it!

Oh and be more active on Twitter. I am totally slacking in that area.

Good question indeed, Janine. I sense a large optimism about 2011, which is certainly refreshing.
Actually, I share your goal of working on more inbound links and also Darlene's commitment to being more active on Twitter.
In general, I am at last really dedicated to marketing for myself the ways I market for clients, and finding great success with it.
I want four ambitious clients on retainer, each of whom will stick with me for a year at least. That's not so much to ask, is it? Heh.
I dreamed last night of a beautiful white house near the beach with four big rooms, all outfitted in shades of white, with big windows all around. A vision of my 'dream!'

I forgot to post my other New Year's resolution is finish my website. I have an appointment with my web person this week and hopefully we can get something accomplished.
