What will you do today to move your business forward?
I know I have asked before but I am going to go out on a limb and ask everyone again. I know what I am doing today but so I don't feel alone I want to know what you are doing today.
So often I spend my time with the non-essential biz stuff but I have to get really serious and work toward getting my biz out there and growing. Today I will review my marketing plan and decide on what to improve and what to scrap.
So, what about you?

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
Moving your business forward is always on my to-do list. You are not alone for many, if not all, of us here are thinking ahead.
I review my marketing plan quarterly, especially with changes in social media and information that I receive from networking and seminars. Right now I am working on my web redesign as part of the revamp I am doing to add some new services and rework some old.
You do need to spend time on non-essential biz stuff so as not to burn yourself out and you will find that happy medium as you work through the details.

I am working on a plan to market my business...
I am also trying to keep my 4-year old from pulling that dogs' tail....oh, there they go again!!
And it looks like its almost lunchtime...so I guess I'm working on sandwiches too..
Working from home is so liberating.

Today is my stay in day, but I will be going out to place For Sale signs up for a client then I can come back home and do some email blasts and Fax Blast this evening. Trying not to stay out in the 103 heat today. Then swimming at 4, when the pool is shaded lol

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
Well, today I did some e-book work for a coach, which I thoroughly enjoy and I'm waiting for her reply. I want to get the project finished so I can say it is finished...so the wait is difficult.
In the meantime, I am working on a video..the video from H-E-double-hockey sticks. I spent hours last week working on it in Windows Movie Maker on Vista, saved the thing and it won't play back. Then I spent many more hours trying to find support, which I did only to find out that there are problems with WMM and Vista that I can't fix.
So then all the slides and the photos and the music had to be copied and transfered to a Windows XP which is compatible with Windows Movie Maker. So why does Microsoft package WMM with Vista?
So now I start from scratch again. Determined to make this work.
But I am here on VAF taking a break from the situation.
Everyday I try to do something to market the business. I post to blogs, write, read or jot down down ideas.
Some days are more fruitful than others. It's the nature of the beast.
Coming to VAF, though does help to recharge those batteries.

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
Thank you so much for starting this post. I am very disappointed with my progress this summer, and I have had extra help watching the boys so there really is no excuse. So today the plan is to start a database of accounts in the area. Then I will work on designing a post card to mail out to them. Also work on a "script" for a phone call that I will follow up each mailing with.
I'm excited about doing this, but I have to limit my time and make sure that I spend time doing billable work too.

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
I was just thinking about this last night.
Since I am fairly new at "virtual" I have a lot to do to move my business forward: Marketing material, tweaking the website, press releases, polishing my skills, learning new ones, formalizing business forms, finding a niche, meeting potential clients or referrals...the list goes on.
I find that I can get stuck in the preparation stage of the business and the marketing plans so I have to move forward. To me that means making a commitment to attend a networking event of some sort, weekly. My first is I next week. So this week I'll be finetuning the elevator pitch!

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
I'll be working on my site; it seems to be never ending, I find that I have a hard time condensing what I want to say for content and could ramble on forever. Then on the design end, I am tweaking this or that graphic to get it "just right." Next up is inserting key words and optimizing for SEO, which I should have been doing all along as I created pages. Oy.
I'm not whining, though - I thoroughly enjoy this!

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
Working on my first niche target database in my new city and researching. Having moved to care for my mom and I suppose now retired (at my age? good grief!) after 3 weeks I'm getting into a routine - up at 6, take dog for a run, make breakfast, cleaning, cooking, laundry, house/vehicle maintenance, mom shopping trips until maybe 2 p.m. Take dog for a run again then work on business/marketing stuff. Nap for an hour or two, feed critturs, make dinner then work till about 11 p.m. Last dog walk and bed around midnight.
Where did I ever find time to have a full time job? Hat's off to those of you that get it all done somehow while working full time ... you surely do rock!

Re: What will you do today to move your business forward?
Lynn,
I must have posted my last thread as you were typing yours just now. Can I ask how you are going about getting acquanted with clients in a new town? I would be interested in knowing how that is working for you. Maybe I can learn from your experiences.
I understand how it is taking care of your mom. My mom and dad are both in their 80s (and like you I am not retirement age, 47) and just recently my dad went into the hospital with pneumonia. My mom is pretty "stowed up" and not able to be left home alone so I spent a few nights at their house until my dad came home. I too, wondered how would I be able to handle a full time job. I didn't even look for one this summer because my 11yr son was out of school and I can't afford child care and he's not ready to be left home all day. Thank goodness for my current unemployment (I will need some income soon). It is an honor to take care of our parents but it can be hard work! Best to you and your mom.
