Default Time Management
Hello fellow VA's!

It has now been a little over a month since our launch date and we have one (potentially two now) client! Yay!

We were just wondering if it's better to get a task list from our clients at the beginning of each week or if we just wait to hear from them when they need tasks done. We want a good way to be able to anticipate how much we will be working per day/week so we can manage our time better.

Any suggestions will be wonderful! Thank you!

My bookkeeping clients are pretty much an auto-schedule for me. But I DO ask my office support folks to give me a list at the beginning of the week, if possible. Otherwise, turnaround time is generally 48 hours from receipt of the job. It really depends on what type of services you are offering and the timeframe for how long the projects take to complete.

Lauren & Melanie,

For my retainer clients, I usually have a list of what needs done weekly (or monthly) and they are on auto-pilot. I do a touch every Monday with a quick overview of where we are at, however I also use a project management program so they can always see where we are. I then remind them to schedule anything that is not in the que or to schedule a time to consult on other upcoming projects.

This is done for two reasons, it helps me plan my week and it upsells my services for projects they may have pending but have put on the back burner and are not getting done.

I use Mavenlink, it syncs with my Google apps account so that is why I chose this option. I also have used ClientSpot which is a good program too.
