Default Temp Agency Contracts??
Has anyone ever set up a contract with a local temp agency. I have a friend who knows someone who owns the local temp agency, and she said they have allot of jobs that are just to small or not long term enough for them. I was thinking about contacting them and setting up a referral contract, maybe giving them a referral fee or something? Any advice on this. I am just getting started, so I don't have any clients yet so I was thinking this might be a good way to get my name out there?? What do you think!!!????

I think is this a great idea! I haven't set up a contract with a local temp agency, however since working with them I have been thinking about it. I am sure there will be some dos and don'ts like promoting yourself while working for them - unless its just a small jobs you would be taking from them. The referral fee idea is a wonderful way to get your foot in the door for project work.

Good Luck with this.

I am not sure if this is a good idea.

Do you want to use your time to find referrals for someone else as opposed to expending your energies on finding clients for your own business?

Yes, you will find referrals for your friend and you can earn a fee, which is always a good thing but 1) will this take away from marketing your own business and 2) if you find a referral for the temp agency will you be restricted to working with that client that you worked so hard to find?

My guess is that once you find the referral for the temp agency you will need to contract with the temp agency to work with that client. Perhaps you may find a client for the agency that might be suitable for you! Do you foresee this as being a problem for establishing your own client base?

Unless you plan on contracting with the temp agency to work with their clients, you would be subcontracting. Is that work that you want to do?

I feel that if you can make referrals for someone else, you can do the same for your own business so why not reap all that you can.
