Default Submitting Business Proposal
Good Afternoon All,

I just learned of a local organization that has just renovated their building to include banquet facilities. This isn't their business focus. I want to submit a proposal to hire me to handle all of their event planning and coordinating at their new facility for their members and for people who may want to rent their space, but I don't know where to start. They have not requested any proposals, so I want to get mine in before they even think about it. I'm new to this and don't really know what should be included in the initial proposal. Can anyone help me with this or point me in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Ily

That's a go-get-it attitude! I find nothing wrong with being a little aggressive in your pursuit. I would suggest you getting to know their mission and then tailor something to fit that targets their focus.

Ily,

Schedule a meet with the head of the organization to discuss your thoughts. Have a solid proposal ready to bring with you. I work with a non-profit who has such a facility and they use it for meeting and rentals only. However, just like they have caterers that they recommend, an event planner would be a bonus.

I would also research local businesses (printers, caterers, suppliers) and add this to the proposal so that the organization will see that you support local business owners in your plans.

Try to address as many details in the proposal you may think that type of business would be looking for and more. You'll be the one setting the example, good for you.

Does anyone know where I can get a template for a proposal to start? I have been asked to do proposal for a non-profit that provides dental services to the underserved community.
Thank you

I've found this article to be a very useful guideline in laying out steps for creating a sales proposal.

I hope it helps: http://www.edwardlowe.org/ERC/index.lasso?storyid=6411

Good luck and kudos to you for being so pro-active!

Hi,
I would schedule a meeting with the owner or head of the facility and get a feel for what he needs and for what he's looking for; and take it from there.

Good luck
Mary
