Question about working from home: What is your routine?
You yawn, stretch, maybe get a cup of coffee, then you start your day as a VA, right???
What are some of the things you do daily to get in gear for your clients?

Re: What is your routine?
Hi Winston,
This is a great question. My day usually begins the evening before. I add to my todo list and check off those things that have been completed.
In the morning, I grab a cup of coffee, get dressed, go to my office, turn on all the computers, check my email for more additions to my todo list, and start working on that todo list.
Some of the todo items go to others so I will send out emails to check on the progress of current projects .
I work 5 hours a day for one client then my other time is spent on small projects and the TVE

Re: What is your routine?
Hi Winston, mine are in this order: turn on the computer, make the coffee, come back and sort my work for the day, go through my e-mails, answer what is important, leave the rest for later on to read, client work first then concentrate on left-over projects, online course studying rest of the day. I attend at least one online seminar every day and conference calls later on in the day

Hi Winston....
I get coffee, check my personal stuff (Email, facebook, my forums, etc), get dressed, feed the pups and then in begin business emails, lists, easy stuff so I can wake up and difficult, then easy again.

Re: What is your routine?
hi!
well, as i work in the afternoons, I am usually awake by then as I go to my 'day job' in the morning! so in response to your question, i:-
*turn on the TV to put the radio on [i listen to irish radio on Sky]
*turn on my mac
*make myself a squash
*check emails and VAF for 10-15 mins
*do work!
then at 5.30pm, i:
*check emails again; then by 5.45pm I'm watching the Irish news over the internet!
if i do have any ideas in my head re marketing etc in the evening then i jot them down on my notepad then I deal with them the next day

Re: What is your routine?
Since I work a 9-5, my days are a little different than most VAs.
Up at 6:30am, hop in shower/get dressed, 6:45am fire up computer, grab a cup of tea and a couple pieces of toast, make coffee/oatmeal for father in law, 7-8:30am check Goddess/personal email, work on ongoing client jobs, leave for 9-5 job.
8:45am at J-O-B check email/respond, 9:00am start J-O-B work. Several times/day check email/VAF (depending on workload), return calls/emails on breaks.
5:15pm home from J-O-B, start dinner, help hubby w/whatever.
7-9:30pm check email/return as needed. Work on client projects, creating/cleaning up marketing materials, Goddess accounting, etc. (This is the same schedule I have Saturday mornings from 8-noon except I don't have any client contact on the weekends.)

I have two of my own so I know the feeling!!!
So in response to my own question:
I get up at 7:00am
Grab my coffee
Drive my friend to work
Arrive home to check emails/start client projects
Walk Dogs
Back to work on projects, checking emails throughout the day
Make myself lunch which is usually a tuna sandwich or something of the sorts
Back to work for clients
Walk Dogs
Work on marketing and search for improvement opportunities
Call it a day, tho I never really "stop" working. I'm always doing something!

Re: What is your routine?
I know what you mean about you never turn off and you are "always doing something" I make sure that I spend the evenings with my husband and dogs, but even when we are together, I have business cards in my purse...
I also find myself working on my marketing or a client issue in my mind almost every night. I have gone to a movie with my husband and gotten about 15 minutes into it and then kind of blacked it out for the next half an hour thinking about my business. It is hard sometimes to not go to the computer and start doing VA stuff after he comes home. I have had to resort to a notebook in the kitchen that I write down my ideas on to go over the next day.

Re: What is your routine?
At the moment, I don't really have a routine. But my life is a bit crazy right now as I'm in the middle of a move and I'm gone from Friday to Sunday (I try to put in a few hours while I'm away but it doesn't always work out). However, I'm really looking forward to putting a routine into place once I'm in my new place and can actually set up a semi-dedicated office space. I'll let ya know how it goes (also, I work a 9-5 as well so it's a little different than some).
One thing I'm trying to do is to start working 6am-2pm (my boss is pretty flexible) so that I can have more time in the evenings and can schedule my time a little better.
