Default Online Event Planner Class
Hey everyone,

In another thread, a few people were discussing how they might enjoy planning events and how they would like to add that to the services their business offers. I mentioned that I am currently enrolled in an online event planning class through my local community college's Education To Go and Tess suggested that I post the link here for anyone who might be interested:

http://www.ed2go.com/cgi-bin/oic3/ne...20Great&path=1

This class is awesome! I'm really enjoying it and learning so much. It runs for 6 weeks, and there are students from all over the country (actually I think from all over the world). The cost is $95. There is alot of interaction between the teach and the students. We've learned everything from writing an event plan, to themes, finding a site, planning the site, the menu, decorations, entertainment, raising money, promoting the event, and will be learning about setting up our own event planning business. I've actually been an Event Coordinator for a restaurant for the last 3 years, in addition to running my marketing business, so I decided to take this class to learn some more about planning events on a larger scale. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in this subject.

By the way, they have classes on EVERYTHING - languages, computers, software, personal development, business development, you name it. I think I'm signing up for a business writing class next. I think it would be a great class for all VA's and come in handy for writing up press releases, content for websites, etc. The next batch of classes start on February 20. If anyone signs up for anything let me know - maybe we'll be classmates!

Just went to the site...and the course is now $129. Did they go up, or did you get a discount of some sort?

I'm currently taking a Web Design course through ed2go, and will start one in PHP/mySQL on the 20th. First time I've done an online course, and I just love it!! Learning so much, interacting with students from all over, wringing every detail I can from the info presented ... it's just awfully convenient, and stimulating!
Not sure, but I bet the cost differential has to do with which local community college you're contacting (?)

Well I'm sold...no matter the costs. (Everything costs more in NYC) I am going to take some Adobe software courses and the Event Planning. I am so excited! Thanks Yvonne.

I took a class through ed2go about 1 1/2 years ago, and I really enjoyed it. The process was quite smooth!

About the cost, I discovered that if I went through the link on my community college website, the cost was $99 (or $95, can't quite recall), but when I went directly to ed2go, the cost was higher. Go figure.

Huh?!?!?!?! Mine says $95. Maybe it does have to do with going through your local community college. Try your local college, then go to their online department and let me know. It might be les expensive for you that way. Tess mentioned that before, if it would be more expensive for out of state people and I said I didn't think so because it was online. I'm sorry if I gave out wrong information!!!

Even if it would've been $129 when I signed up, I would've still taken it and been really pleased with it. For everyone that signed up you'll love it! The classes are released on Wednesdays and Fridays and I can't wait for them. After I do the Friday class it's sooooooo long till the Wednesday class. But the discussion forum stays really active usually and the teacher posts lots of information for you to look up on your own and research. I'll be interested to hear what you all think of it. So far, I've gotten 100% on all my quizzes - it's just so much fun that all the info is sinking in so easily!
