Default A New Virtual Assistant's Start Up Package
Hello again, over the past 3 weeks I must have viewed 200 different start up packages for VA's. Packages involving, contracts, new client welcome forms, agreements, proposals etc. My question is in your honest opinion, what company/ package would you suggest that I purchase? There are just so many to choose from and making a decision hasn't been easy. I would like to get the best deal for my money being it is an issue at this time. I'm sure there are plenty of excellent packages out there but I know that some may not be as good as others. Thanks in advance!

Default Re: A New VA's Start Up Package
I'd go with the Become a Virtual Assistant package that is sponsored here on VAF. Even though I haven't used it myself because it came out long after I'd started out, and in no way am I biased one way or the other just because it's a VAF sponsored product, I think what they have in this packet is clearly everything one could need for starting out. AND...the price is ultra reasonable. For only $29.00...don't see how you could lose.

I also recommend many of Danielle Keister's products. She's at the Administrative Consultant's Association. Her business plan especially is good. With her stuff you can buy the whole package, or just spend a small amount to check out a couple of her products to get a feel.

What I personally found I did not like was the ultra expensive packages from VA Networking. I got a few things through having a monthly subscribership, and I wasn't all that impressed. Just my personal opinion. I know many who think it's great - and Tawnya Sutherland is an awesome person to follow and learn from as a mentor. Just some of the products that didn't work for me.

I think ultimately my advice is to find products where you can try samples or that have a warranty of some kind. When it boils right down to it, sometimes its also about what works best for you.

Hello,

Welcome to Virtual Assistant Forums.

I commend you on the research you have done in seeking out the best value in VA starter package materials.

I only recommend the Become a Virtual Assistant package as mentioned for new VAs and for those who want to kick start a business. I own a copy of this package and I feel that it has the best value for the money. Other packages I have seen through the years at other sites are overpriced.

If I was starting out I would purchase the Become a Virtual Assistant package, however, when I started there wasn't any formal program I could use. Not to sway you from purchasing anything, although it takes a lot of time to do the research, pretty much everything you will need to start your business is here on VAF. There is a great free download Getting Started Virtual Assistant Packet you may want to check out if you have not already.

Good luck!

Janine

Good Evening,

I am new at the research in putting together a client welcome package, etc. I was wondering if you might share some of your discovering in this. I am hoping to purchase the $29 recommendation but I do agree the VA Networking one is steep for me just starting out.

Thank you in advance for consideration in sharing some of your information with a fellow newbie.

Patricia

Patricia,

I own a copy of Become a Virtual Assistant so I can vouch for its fine content. Even though I have been a VA for sometime, what I like about this program is that a good deal of the information is also useful for VAs whose businesses become established.

The program is geared for newbies but it takes the VA from start to start-up and provides resources that are useful as the business begins to grow.

Hi ladies, would the package be suitable for a VA in the UK- in terms of the documents etc?

Thanks

I'm a start-up VA in Scotland and purchased a document package including client profile and consultation questionnaires, welcome pack and legal documents (client contracts and terms of service) from a UK VA. The legal material was excellent and has saved me a lot of time, but the client material was a bit amateurish in terms of wording and layout. It's given me a starter for ten but I wouldn't want to put it out as it is in my name. The whole package cost me around £80.

Danielle Keister has impressed me a lot. That lady really knows her stuff and if she'd been British I would've bought some of her material in a heartbeat.

TBH I'm not certain why you need to purchase a package.

There are heaps of free resources (this forum, for example) that with a little research would give you all the information you need.

The reason that I recommended Become a Virtual Assistant is because if I had this package when I first started, it would have saved me the hours/days I had to pour over this site and other websites to answer all my questions.

I could have jump-started weeks ahead of my launch date and came out of the gate running...but it was slow to gain momentum.

When I read Become a Virtual Assistant, I couldn't believe how much information was available 'at my fingertips' in just one chapter.

Further, this package is the most economically priced starter package around. On some sites, the documents alone are $35 a piece! I know this because I looked for them myself.

There are other great attributes about this starter package...links to other resources and business documents.

Here are a few:

Ideal Client Worksheet
Target Market Worksheet
Mission Statement Worksheet
Business Policies & Procedures Worksheet
Business Name Brainstorming Worksheet
Sample Contracts & Agreements (22)
Virtual Assistant Services Agreement
Freelance Agreement (per hour)
Freelance Agreement (per project)
Consultant Services Agreement
UK Services Contract (per hour)
UK Services Contract (per project)
UK Virtual Assistant Services Agreement
UK Consultant Services Agreement
Canadian Services Contract (per hour)
Canadian Services Contract (per project)
Addendum to Contract
Mutual Release from Contract
Confidentiality Agreement
LLC Membership Agreement
Partnership Agreement
Partnership Dissolution Agreement
Website Design Agreement
Project Management Contract
Ghostwriter Agreement
Cease & Desist Agreement
Agreement to Purchase Domain Name
Assignment of Copyright

And while I can find some of these document in the VAF library and in some of the threads, when I first started I didn't even know I needed some of these documents in my contract or on my website!

If the package is within your budget...I believe the 2nd edition just rolled out with many more documents including contracts for UK and Canadian VAs, at $39, it is still a huge bargain.

And it's from VAF, so you know the quality is there.
