Default Moving with your business
Hello everybody!

I just moved for the first time since I started my business. I have to say that it was an experience since we moved continents and we stayed for 7 weeks in a hotel without internet connection. Now, we are all settled with an internet connection and I am trying to save what is left. I am faced now with several issues:

1. How does it work in the new country with having a home-based business?
2. No more networking in person - how does that work with the internet?
3. What safety nets do I need to put in place for the next move?

I have already several ideas to solve those issues. The first issue can be solved by a trip to the right authorities and a good talk. The second issue, I hope to solve with a class (I am considering VAclassroom, I made a different post on that already), some learning, and some good advice. The third issue, I wanted to solve with subcontracting or a partnership.

What are your thoughts? Do you have an experience like that too? Any advice?

I haven't moved to another continent but I did relocate my business from Maine to North Carolina, including a 5 month temporary stay in Virginia. I'm sure that moving to an entirely different continent brings its own unique challenges.
I'd think that the legalities of moving your business to another place would be about the same, as far as finding out what licensing was required etc.
As far as networking, do you mean networking with your current clients or meeting new people? I've met new business contacts here in NC through Twitter and have already given a 'talk' at a local real estate office to begin my 'in person' networking in my new home.
And safety nets.. I invested in an air card so the wait for internet to be installed at my new home didn't keep me from working on a secure network.
Best of luck with your business in your new, exciting location!

Hi Wendy,
I'm still getting my business up an running, but the idea of me having a 'virtual' business was so I can eventually have a travelling business. I don't have too much advice for you, but wanted to say that I hope it all goes well! Where did you move to/from anyway?

Hello,

thank you for all the good wishes.

I moved from North Carolina to Germany.

I need to network more over the internet now than before. I got most of my current clients through personal networking. I am unfamiliar with networking over the internet to get new clients. So, I need to learn that. I think the air card is a great idea.
