I measure success by whether or not I look forward to working when I wake up. So many times in my life I've had a job that everyone else thought was great but I dreaded getting up in the morning and going. Now, even though I work harder and the income is never guaranteed I wake up looking forward to working.

Hi,

Success is measured differently by everyone and for me, I cannot define success in only one aspect of my life or business without making sure it is in balance with everything else around me.

For each individual aspect of business or home, I prefer to set goals that align with the "big picture". When I meet those goals, I feel successful to myself

One thing that helps is to build a "success environment". Diana Long touches on that topic in one of her blog articles here.

Great question!

For me, success is:
Waking up and working on my own schedule, spending each and every day with my baby girl and husband, focusing on things that I enjoy and knowing that every hour invested is recouped, not just financially, but in ways that continue to make my life and my family's life better.

Another way I measure success is the size of the quarterly tax payments I have to make Takes the poison out of sending those checks to the IRS!

Funny!

Years ago I worked for a very, very rich man who was fair & generous. After selling thousands of shares of stock one year, his accountant called me to tell me what his IRS final bill was. I asked, "Don't you want to tell him yourself?"

"No," he said. "It's 2.5 million." This was on top of the quarterly payments he'd already made!

When I dropped the bomb, my boss smiled & said, "Do you know how much money I made to have to pay that in taxes?"

I'm just waiting for my $2.5 million tax bill!

Love that story! That's the way to put a positive spin on something that most people would cringe at.

Even though I'm just starting my business, my success is measured by the freedom I have in my life and the love I have in my heart.

Lezly,
Great story. Thanks for another positive story reminding us of an "attitude of gratitude".
My success is measured by my freedom to work when and how I choose.
