Thanks so much for posting the list, Tess. Being new here, I can't access the library and archives yet. Having this list will definitely speed things along. The more I don't have to rethink things, the more productive I can be.

-----------------------------------------------------
Finally! I've been looking for this post all morning! I thought there was another but I can't seem to find it. My question is about a business plan. Now that I've spilled the beans to my husband he wants me to write one. I've seen a typical business plan and I'm not interested! (Pages and pages with graphs and charts and numbers - the type you would put together for a loan to start a new business.) I don't want a loan, thank goodness!

Can somebody give me some ideas to get going? I would assume that "our type" of business plan has to be just as unique as our industry. I would like to hear from some of you who have employee J O B S because that changes everything. How long are you planning to do both? Are you going to wait until your income reaches a certain level or you sign a certain number of clients or you have $X in savings to switch to full time VA? At what rate do VAs add clients when the first get started? I'm sure you veterans have things coming to mind I haven't even thought of yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Although I can see my husband swaying I have yet to yell *TIMMMMBERRR* and we haven't shaken on it yet!

Make it a great day!
------------------------

I am with you on this thought. I am drafting a business plan. And I am doing some research on the market, the number of VA's in the area, etc. But some of the detail on example business plans is insane. I am working a fulltime job too and have to prove to my husband that I can make a profit before he'll even consider me investing any real funds into this. I think I'm going to sneak in my website though. How do you get those first orders in when you're working a full time job?

Hi
Tess you being outperformer in all details of VA, truely professional, the masterlist had to be perfectly systematic. More and more I am reading the forum, more and more I am in love with you.

I have to say just reading through this list has caused me to *think* about what I would need to add to my current home set up... Luckily, I've already managed most of it... YAY! Something I've done by accident & it works! (Living overseas created the need for Skype - so family could call us on the "cheap"!)

I will definitely start working on a business plan - and plan to read the threads on this topic in my not so free time...

Thanks for all of the fantastic tips!
Amanda

I love the list, and I have been hoping to find one that is this comprehensive. I saw a few questions pertaining to business plans and software too. My big burning question is what is the biggest difference between an LLC and a sole proprietorship. I thought that many would do an LLC, but a SP seems so much easier.

Any advice would be great

Thanks!

Hi Shannon, try posting your question in the Contracts, Legalese and Taxes or General Business Development section for a direct answer! When you post a new question at the end of a long thread it tends to get lost

Also, check the archives for older threads on this topic, you're sure to find lots of great info!

Thanks for the list. It breaks the process of starting a business into bite size pieces.
