Okay, now for a just for fun question. But first: our local library has designated a room for use of entrepreneurs who want to work away from home. It is a free co-office. They also have a room for rent (also free) if you need to meet with clients.

So here is the question: What is essential to put in your portable office (ie briefcase) to take to your away from home office. I want to make sure I don't forget anything.

Also, is there anything that you have with you at all times, "just in case" you need to network.

I would say, besides your laptop, any contracts you might need, business cards, brochures/flyers. That's all I can think of.

My laptop, Wireless Access Stick (if access isn't available) my mouse, some biz cards and my Blackberry. Everything else I have accessible either on my computer or via my online applications.

I'm set and good to go!

What a great resource your local library has put in place - I have always liked the idea of having places to go where others are working... even if you don't know them, there's something nice about being productive in a semi-social setting. Especially when we VAs work from home, alone, so often.

When traveling I take: laptop, wireless mouse, aircard (just in case there is a wireless issues), portable scanner, business cards, notebook and pen, any backup items needed for my projects.
