How to Start a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Service by Victoria Ring is one of the most advanced books on the market today full of advice and walk through lessons for any Virtual Assistant who is looking to become a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant.
The author shares her personal insights of the business, examples of working with lawyers and their clients as well as tips that will help you build your business.
• In chapter 1 the author guides you through the “Is the Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Services Business right for you?” In this chapter you will learn if this is the type of work you want to do. Is it worth it to you to learn more about? If you think you can handle the up and downs you will go through mentally. There is a questions section in chapter 1 that will tell you in the end of the chapter, after you have answered the questions, if this business if right for you or not. One of the most often questions that the author is asked is “How much money can I make?” I understand now why, even though you can make 200-500 dollars per petition you do, that it doesn’t matter unless this is really something you can handle doing.
• In chapter 2 the author guides you through setting up your business, your office and provides you with a sample agreement as well as websites to join to help market your self and to establish your new business.
• In chapter 3 you will learn why the need for Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant services is growing, common terms you will use most often, the basics of a Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition as well as the do’s and don’ts for a VBA.
• In chapter 4 you will learn about the “Client Intake Interview”. Although you may not be doing Client Intake interview’s this chapter helps you learn what a client is going through and why they are doing a bankruptcy. This helps give you a better perspective on the people involved and how to be of help to them.
• In chapter 5 you begin drafting bankruptcy petitions. This chapter is based on all the forms that are used when drafting a petition. It will walk you through each form and help learn the legal language as well as the specific ways of drafting a petition. You will learn that every petition you do will be different. That there is no copy and paste and most often used material. You will learn from the beginning to the end of a petition.
• In chapter 6 you will learn what a “Means Test” is and how to properly perform a Means Test. At the end of this chapter you will be given study materials as well as links to websites to learn more about a Means Test.
• In chapter 7 you will learn advanced tip and techniques for VBA’s. The websites you will always go to for information and in put of the bankruptcy petition.
• In chapter 8 you will learn how to market and grow your business. One of the things I found fascinating in this section is the author advocates that you start marketing prior to completing the work book sections of this book. I understand why now. It is because you can’t pick up speed doing bogus petitions. The faster, and accurate, you are the more valuable you are as a VBA.
• In chapter 9 the author gives you resource links and general information about the resources she is providing.
• In chapter 10 you are provided a legal dictionary for VBA’s. These legal terms are what you will be using, saying and writing most often.
Reading this book and working through the work book sections provided me with confidence as well as the skills to start my Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant services. I feel it gave me exactly what I needed to go out there and start doing this type of work. I found that doing the example petitions help in garnering my speed as well as my knowledge about the software I chose to do the petitions with.
Another fantastic thing I found with Victoria Ring's book was the wealth of information she provides. The free and paid services used to help process bankruptcy petitions and she has now established a certification for VBA’s. If you pass the exam she will provide you with work as an intern! You just can’t go wrong with that kind of enthusiasm from an author.
If you are really looking into becoming a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant then I highly recommend this book.
