I have found all of Diana Ennen's books beneficial and filled with plenty of information. If interested in learning how to respond to RFPs then I would recommend an eBook by Darrell Williams of Right Hand Man Virtual Assistant Services titled "7 Essential Keys for Responding to RFPs".

I've got several books listed at http://www.vadirectory.net/thevashop.htm - some of which I wrote, and the rest were written by others I know either in the VA industry, or working from home.

Some are available in print form in the US as well as being available as ebooks.

I recommend "The Art Of Follow Up" by Jaime Lee Mann. This ebook has clear, no non-sense advise on how to follow on each lead you get so you can close more business.

Another great book (although not specifically about VA's) is Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port. I love his gentle but relentless approach to marketing. Great read!

Virtual Assistant, The Series: Become a Highly Successful, Sought After VA (Virtual Assistant) by Diana Ennen & Kelly Poelker
This book was my absolute life line in starting my VA business. I would highly recommend it!

Angela Smith of Accu-Assist has an excellent e-book called 'Online Networking for the Newbie', which is a valuable resource for both veteran and new VA's. She also offers her free 'Master To-Do List' that you can download, I would highly recommend anything she writes!

Carlana:

I also have this book and have found it a very useful reference. The section on business plans isn't quite as detailed as I needed, but I have a book specifically for that. All the other sections were very helpful. Lots of links to websites you can obtain info from, etc. Also it is really interesting to see real world examples from other VAs currently working in the industry.

I have read The Virtual Assistant's Guide to Marketing by Michelle Jamison and have foudn it very helpful along with Erin Blaskie's Home Study Course. I can't wait to get myself out there and be able to gain many great virtual friends.

Karla, there may be, but I really encourage you to consider that any books you buy to learn about this industry is a taxable expense. Businesses generally can't be built on free things and although there are some free programs and offerings on the web you can use (like Adobe Reader for example), the reality is the majority of things you need to get to help you with your business is going to cost.

I agree they are great. I beleive the series book is the most popular that I hear many va's talk about.

Yes I understand that for the most part. I mostly find useful books in the library though. I buy books all the time at the same time. I am just asking because I am looking for a read right now or over this weekend. I know I won't be going to the book store anytime soon.

Thanks you all for your recommendations. I've added some to my list of books to check out and will be heading out to the library soon. Second stop Ebay.
