Thumbsup Being introduced to the world of VAs
Frankly, I have no idea what VA is. I recently just came across the word when I was out job hunting. My previous plan failed because of some "uncontrollable" circumstances just when I have quit from my previous job.

There was this agency hiring for VAs. I have no idea what a VA is, But I still applied for it . Thinking that hey, if it's something new then Mommy's gonna try it. Little did I know that I'm in for a surprise!

As I found out, through research and finally landing here.

VAs is actually a business. Having applied in an agency means that I am still considered an employee, but I still find positivity in this opportunity though it contradicts what a VA really is.

And so here I am. Equipping myself with ideas out there and from you. I am about to take a test a few hours from now. I absolutely have no idea what it's gonna be. I'm freaking out a bit and having fun with the notion that I am going to learn a lot from the experience.

Everyone is getting anxious at home. It's a new thing for everyone. Everybody seems to be comfortable working in an office. (They're content with receiving a measly pay. And to think that almost everyone here in our country has a degree. There may be one crazy creative person in a hundred who'd love to have her own business.) I am unemployed. We're young parents, still living with my hubby's Mom. It's not easy but I am absolutely positive about everything.

You got it right Yvie, it is definitely a business and not an employee role. Some of these agencies have picked up on the VA term and used it but in actual fact they're probably virtual employees or virtual temps, etc.

I've been in business over 14 years and still love it.

Have fun exploring the forum here - you'll learn heaps!

welcome to the forum yvie - kathie's right about it being a business and not an employee. I am on the brink of launching; and I am just about to do a mailshot tomorrow (or, certaintly by end of week!) to one of my "target" groups!

You will find lots of information here, and, remember, your work doesn't have to come from next door, it can come from anywhere in the world!! If you want to start local, then that's fine, but I am aiming to launch in the UK and Ireland first and then hopefully break into Oz and NZ before America. The possibilites are endless!!

Finally, good luck into your new venture!

You are in the right place to gain information! It's almost always a bit overwhelming and exciting at the same time, but pace yourself! When reading through the forums, I highly recommend grabbing a notebook and jotting ideas down so you don't have to rack your brain trying to figure out where you read something!

As the industry becomes more popular by the day, there is definitely a lot more information to be found also! I look forward to "seeing" you around and being able to asnwer any other questions!
