Hi Nicole, I hadn't heard of this site and took a peek... While it looks like a well-designed, nicely-presented site I'm not sure I'd approach it more just in terms of acquiring more knowledge and less with the idea that the 'certifications' will carry much weight, although certainly the badges might impress some potential clients.

Learning something new is ALWAYS a good thing though - good for your business, good for your clients, good for your bottom line.

If you do sign up for one of their courses I'd love to hear your feedback and experience.

Lynda.com is a great site. I learned how to build my website with the training courses offered. It is relatively inexpensive enough, you don't have to sign up long term. If you want to discuss this further contact me directly.

I have taken courses on Alison.com and have learned from them.
I didn't bother paying for a certificate because I just didn't think they would be very valuable. If they have a couse you're intereste in, I suggest you try it. The courses really are free and the only email I ever receive from them is an update on new courses. I think I had to sign up to be updated on new courses and receive their newsletter (i dont' remember). My only complaint with Alison is that when it comes to computer classes, a lot of it is for earlier versions of software and if you have the latest version (ie. Microsoft 2007/2010) you're of luck.
