Hi - I read that thread too and couldn't post there, but I'll post what I was going to say here...

I just joined TDC but have not yet gone thru the testing process. I was just doing some research on them and came across this forum. I am very glad I did!!
I will heed the advice of others, thank you very much.

But I also wanted to add that I saw the interview on the Mike & Juliette morning show and that was one of the reasons I joined TDC.
Apparently you were all correct in your assumption. She fed a good line of BS and made it sound great and that they are a legitimate online agency for VA's. (Obviously, because she made me join and I've been leery about online scams)

So the question is...where can a new person who hasn't even quit the brick and mortar world yet find virtual work to get their foot in the door? AKA - me.

yeah, when I first joined TDC I wasn't so sure about it. I wanted to start my own VA business (because I know I will love it and be very capable of it) but right now it is just very hard for me to take that chance. I would have to do it part time, and I dont even have time for that since I work 40+ hours a week with my full time job for a newspaper. Have any of you been in this position? If so, how did you get started and easing into it. Did you advertise or anything like that? I think Im just scared of what might happen if my business doesn't prosper. I'm in a rather "middle of no where" area hahaha. So I don't know if that will affect me or not

I went through the testing process, and it was absolutely ridiculous. There were several answers on there I didn't know, just because I work so quickly that I don't really pay attention to every little step I take...I know what Im doing, so I just do it...you know? But I passed their tests so, that's good I suppose! I just thought it was a total waste of my time. I spent an hour or more doing those tests. Im still waiting for a reply but I almost don't even want one anymore from the looks of that thread. It will be interesting to see if they even interview me. I really am tempted to just send them an email saying other opportunities have come up and I am no longer interested.

Smile Re: how do i get hired by VA businesses
Hi Amy,

I'm currently working with a Virtual Assistant company and I love the client relationships and experiences I am gaining from it. I started working with the company last October (07). I have 7 full-time Clients through the company and all have requested to stay with me when I do go out on my own.

One thing about working through a company is the pay..when I first started my hourly rate was considerably low, but I wanted the experience and took on the client and gave it my all. Once I proved myself the pay rate increased considerably and is still increasing .

Another thing, you don't actually get 'hired' with a VA company...if you are qualified to assist clients through this company. You choose the clients whom you want to work with.

I am in the process of building my own VA business. But, I needed some kind of income while doing so. I did a massive internet search one day and found the company and Im so glad I did. The Clients I am currently working with are constantly referring me to friends, family and colleagues.

So, I guess is what I am saying is....Tess is so right and has made a really good point as far as being taken serious and setting up your own business - it makes a huge difference. I also feel that sub-ing through a company, a GOOD, LEGIT VA company could also be a positive.

Kena,

I am going to ask what many other people will be thinking.... Can you share the name of the company you are working with?

LOL
It's fine - when it's an honest to goodness personal recommendation or reference it's totally fine....
If there's already a thread in this section for the group or company, perhaps adding to that and then linking from here for reference would make sense? Otherwise, post away!

Hey Everyone - ok, I have searched hi and low and dont see anywhere on here that the company is mentioned. So, I think it would be best, mainly out of respect for the company(and the person that receives applications) that I don't mention the company's name. However, I did send an email asking how they felt about it. And will keep you updated - sorry!

It may be a good thing for TDC to see that their competition is getting great reviews when there are 50 + posts here in this thread with negative reviews for TDC...

I registered with them almost a month ago now...I STILL haven't heard anything back from them. Im actually glad I dont think I really want to waste anymore of my time on people who expect you to be flexible when they arent even flexible...not to mention the pay is extremely low (I found out after reading this forum and going back and researching the website). Thanks to whoever started this thread! If I hadn't have come across it, I might've been sucked into the world of TDC!!!
