Hi All,

I figured this would be a great first stop to get some feedback. I'm wanting to learn more about "advanced" wordpress. Any recommendations on training, books, resources?

When it comes to wordpress I'm pretty strong with installing, customizing with plugins, making minor "programming" tweaks to themes (such as colour changes, adding different headers etc), but I'd like the ability to really know what I'm looking at when I look at the code, doesn't mean that I necessarily want to do it all myself, but there have been times where my learning curve would have been much shorter if I new what I was really looking at when it comes the code of wordpress.

I generally get all of my clients to use wordpress for both their blog and their site and I'm excited about the new features coming out in WP 3.0 and thought it's about time I amp up my skills.

So your thoughts?

Well, I think what you're asking is to understand HTML. Which is a good idea. Knowing at least the basics of HTML will help you in so many ways around the internet. Google for free tutorials or take a quick community college or http://ed2go.com course. Really worth your while, and not nearly as difficult as you may fear.

Yes I agree, HTML handy to know and I have a decent enough grip on HTML that I'm comfortable with it. Really what I'm looking for is more on the CSS and PHP but more focused on how it's used in Wordpress. I'm going to also post something in the Wordpress forums as I'm sure there are people there that can steer me in a good direction.
