Re: What's your title on your business card?
What a great discussion! I haven't made any business cards yet and will probably call myself Owner/Operator or Founder or something like that. I also like Administrative Specialist or Administrative Professional. Hmmmm...Independant Contractor may give the sense of Ownership without actually saying it or having the same connotations. What do you think?
One of my clients just opened up a little store called The Trail Mix and she calls herself the Trail Director. All of the people that work with her are called Trail Guides (cashiers and such). Not that they actually lead hikes or anything (although she'd like to get into that and just adopted a trail) but it kind of goes with her name and the earthy/natural feel of her store. I think it's cute.

I think I will go with Owner/Virtual Assistant as well. I never really gave it to much thought until now. Just another "to do" on my list!

Re: What's your title on your business card?
My cards say Owner/CEO. I now wonder if that is too "corporate." I think I will jump on the bandwagon and change mine to Owner/Virtual Assistant.
By the way, on the reverse side of my card, I included a little blurb about "What is a Virtual Assistant" and a short list of services that VAs provide. I figured, that was a good way to educate anyone who received my card and a great way to keep the conversation going at networking events.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I have no title on my cards, and I plan to have no title on my staffs' cards once I have regulars too. The reason I plan not to is that I once worked with a very successful manager who expected that whomever picked up the call dealt with the client from start to finish even if they were wanting IT and we were in contracts. That way the client had a seamless service experience even when IT may have done some of the work and we communicated it. It might sound strange but what it did was force us to know what our collegues were doing, communicate constantly and I haven't since worked with such a focussed and successful team. When I think back too, I don't think we ever had a complaint from a customer about our service! If only the banks did this :-)

Re: What's your title on your business card?
My card is merely my given name and the name of the company which literally makes a statement. In that respect, it's more of a reinforcement of branding or tag line, if you will.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
My cards simply have my logo & business name on the front, then my name w/contact info on the back. (I also list a few services at the bottom of the back). As "Virtual Office Management" said, I am the business.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I am thinking about this issue at the moment - here in the UK we dont really use the term President or CEO so I am contemplating Proprietor/Virtual Assistant or Owner/Virtual Assistant. I did toy with Director at one time also.
By the way I have started a group for those of us in the UK although anyone is more than welcome to contribute.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I am a solo operator and don't plan on expanding my business to include other VA's, so it's just me. I use Virtual Assistant as the title. Don't feel I need owner/CEO/President.

I use Small Business Consultant, because I mainly work with individuals and small businesses. Its great, because the Client seems to understand exactly what I do.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I use "Virtual Business Specialist".
I hesitated with "Owner" because then it may be perceived as I'm the owner and I don't know how to do the actual job. I definitely didn't do CEO or President for the same reasons.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I have put "HR Analyst & Virtual Assistant". It is a bit long, but I have a long surname so it looks ok!
I have used this as I wanted to be more descriptive about what it is I actually do. Having said that, as we know, lots of people don't know what a VA does and similarly, there are not too many people who know what an HR Analyst does either! When I run my next batch of cards I am going to use the back of the card to put a description of the work I do.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
help4hr that's funny that you just posted about how you are going to use the back of your cards for descriptions, because i just posted a thread with a pdf file of my business card that I just got designed and I listed some of my services on the back for that same reason.
If I found a card for a Doctor laying on the table at a restaurant, I would know what he did, but honestly, there aren't a lot of people that could pick up a card somewhere and see "Virtual Assistant" and really understand what that is. Hence, why I put a list of services.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
Yes, I too have listed my services on the back of my card. I've found it very useful indeed. I've experimented a bit with my title and finally settled with, "Your Virtual Business Support Specialist."
I put the word, "Your" at the beginning of my title to give a little personalisation to my services toward the person I'm offering them to.
At least I've had some very interesting conversations since I change my card as such.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jason
