Re: What's your title on your business card?
I would say you are the owner, because you are, you own this business. For me I also put Virtual IT Specialist since that is my specialty area, yes I will take on other VA duties but mostly will focus on the IT side.

I always use owner/operator. I think that it says everything (that I am the owner and that I also do the work). Just my opinion.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
Wow! It's really interesting to see the different viewpoints on this subject. I agree that it's good to show a little humility, but I also think it's important to get across the message that it's you who will be doing the work for the prospective client and it's you who'll be taking responsibility for such work.
I recently had some business cards printed & used the rather austere title of "Director of Business Services". I thought @ the time that it gave an air of ownership and that I would be responsible for the services being provided. But afterwards I had second thoughts and figured that maybe it was a bit over the top.
Previously, when people have asked me what I do I have said that I am a Virtual Business Assistant, putting emphasis on the word, "Business" because I provide more than just virtual secretarial services.
However, I have now settled on the title "Business Services Specialist". It gives me a wider scope than just providing virtual admin/secretarial services and gives me opportunity to highlight the additional services that I provide.

Thanks for mentioning Moo....what fabulous and creative cards. I'll have to keep them in mind when I'm ordering mine.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I have just put my name because I don't think it is important to put a title. After looking at other business owner's cards, I decided a title wasn't necessary as most people will assume it is YOUR business.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I'm in the process of making my first batch of business cards and I'm happy I came across this thread I'm thinking that I'm not going to use a title on this batch. We can see how everything looks and goes and maybe in the future I will include a title. Something I didn't really think too hard about....here's to being indecisive! lol

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I also used owner on my business card, I was thinking I should have used Virtual Assistant, but not sure how the client would view it. Do I want to be known as the owner of the company or the employee? Do anybody agree?

Re: What's your title on your business card?
Right now my cards show "Virtual Assistant", but I think when I order my next set I will change it to "Owner/Virtual Assistant" since that is exactly who and what I am.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I have President/Virtual Assistant - but after reading the above post - I now wonder what is appropriate when you do own your business and your the only one working. Hmm good question.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I have three different titles I use on my business cards. They are President, Bilingual Consultant, and Bilingual Virtual Consultant. I use different titles for different prospects.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I don't see anything wrong with putting CEO, President, Owner or Founder along with Virtual Assistant. To be honest, I don't even remember what's on my biz cards because I don't really use them since I mostly network online. However, for many of my online profiles I will list Owner or President and I believe this is an important distinction from just listing yourself as a VA.
You are the Owner or Founder and there's no reason you shouldn't claim that title. I think this goes towards your overall mindset as a business owner rather than just employee or assistant. You will find that most successful business women out there will have no problem claiming that as their title for their business and just because we are virtual assistants does not mean that we are not also the other- Owner, President, etc. With no offense to the wonderful male VAs who are contributing to this forum, do you think that if the VA industry were predominantly male that we'd even be having this discussion or that that we'd even be wondering about what a client might think if we put the title of Owner or President on our business cards?
To me, I WANT to work with the client who realizes that I am the owner or president or founder as that is the client who respects me as a fellow business owner. I want to recognized for the work that I've put into creating a successful and well-organized business. I just want to encourage you all to enthusiastically embrace yourselves as business owners, founders and CEOs because that's what you are and you don't need to ask anyone else's permission to to claim it.

Re: What's your title on your business card?
I simply put "Owner" on mine. I used the back of the card to detail my services, etc.

Mine currently say Founder and CEO. I'm still printing mine myself though, so I may change that when I have them done professionally.

I know that this is a bit off topic but I just checked out your website because we're (the non-profit I work for) considering the idea of outsourcing our IT stuff (sometime down the road) and I was curious about what a Virtual IT Specialist does. Anywho, I just wanted to say that I really like that you list all of the qualities you expect to see in your clients right there on your homepage. I would never have thought of doing that.
