SInce then I desperately needed some business cards, so ended up creating my own and printing some out myself. I think I will end up sending the design off to a local printer to get them done. I didn't realise just how vital it was to take business cards EVERYWHERE I go....I carry them in my daughter's nappy bag (lol). Barb )

I opted to design and print my own business cards because that is a service I offer to start-up businesses who are strapped for cash. I know most 'advisors' tell us to have cards printed, but most of the cards I've seen are not handled or viewed any different than the one's I printed, so I bought the highest quality paper that would work in my MFC. I used the advice in The Virtual Assistant's Guide to Marketing by Michelle Jamison to design the shape and colors of my logo. And, Michelle, taking your biz cards EVERYWHERE is a wonderful idea!

I was walking down the street yesterday to pick up my kids from school. I met up with another mom who I don't know well but we began chatting. It turns out she runs a home-based bookkeeping business. She asked me for my business card and guess what: I didn't have any! Lesson learned. You just never know when someone will ask for your biz card. I find that, even, if they are in a pocket of my hand-bag or any bag they seem to get "lost" and I think it looks a little unprofessional if you have to search for them.
