Default Scented Business Cards
Hi All

I am thinking of adding a couple of services to my Business and Scented Stationary is one of them.
I know you can get flavours like roses, chocolate, lavender etc and I think that there could be some great potential.

Do you know any printers that I could get further info from?
I am in Australia though not many people do it here at all, and I guess at the moment I am just looking for all the info on it before I make a final decision.

Thanks for your help

Erin

Myself - I hate getting anything scented in the mail. I am very sensitive to perfumes. I can't even tolerate the cinnamon scented junk in the stores this time of year. I start wheezing and coughing every time I get near them.

That is just my personal opinion. I can't speak for anyone else.

I agree that sending or handing out scented business cards can turn people off. I only say this because not everyone can handle scented items. Allergies is one of the reasons and the other is they may not have the same taste in scents as you.

Just something to consider before you spend any money on items that can cause the above problems for your potential clients.

I think Erin was inquiring whether offering to supply scented stationary would be a viable addition to the services she currently offers her clients.

Erin, I would have to lean towards the responses you got from Robin and Andrea. While you wouldn't be actually sending your clients scented stationary directly, rather acting as a supplier, I would think you would have the same concerns. Unfortunately, in this day and age with the amount of allergies people have and skin sensitivities, it might not be the greatest product to offer.

I think the bigger question to ask is whether you have a market for the product and being in Australia, you would be the best one able to answer that. Have you had any of your clients ask about such a service or heard about anyone else asking for such a service? Do you have stationary stores in Australia that currently offer such a service? If there is a market for such a service, who would you be your target market and is it worth it to add it to your services offered?

It could very well be that there is a huge demand for such a service, but when it comes to our businesses, it is always best to check demand before offering supply. From my viewpoint, it might be better to offer a service that is in high demand right now, like WordPress or web design. However, a quick look at your website indicates you have already gone ahead and offered scented stationary as a service.

Let us know how it goes and best of luck!

Hi Ladies

Thankyou very much for your input- I appreciate it.

I have found a supplier, the only one in Australia who offers this type of service. So far there is no cost for me. I have added it to my website and I will see if it is popular or not. If it is, I will go ahead with promoting more, though if not, as you have said, I will not waste my time on it and instead dedicate my time on services that in demand.

Thanks again for all your help, you have helped me

Erin

I had no idea they had such a thing as scented business cards. I think this would be a great idea for your addition to your business.

Erin:

I hate to sound negative, but I have a concern that if you sell this service to a client, and then they get a negative response from THEIR clients or customers who are sensitive to fragrances, this may backfire on you and end up costing you business. I just think that the risk outweighs any possible gain.

Unfortunately, I have to throw out anything scented because of how sensitive I am to fragrances. I do think it's a really cute idea if it's a business that normally has some type of light fragrance floating around anyway, like a flower shop, candy/chocolate store, bakery, etc.

Wow, I didn't notice that I replied to such an old thread until now!
I usually post to something that's recently come up in "new posts" without always noticing the date of the first post....
