I'm designing my business cards and have decided to use a QR code on the back which links directly to my Facebook page. A 'like' button is also built into the code which people can click right from their phone linking directly to their own FB pages.

To use a QR code, folks will need a QR reader and a smart phone. I wrote a blog about it here with a tutorial.

Out of pure curiosity people tend to try the QR codes to see "what's behind the code" and if that engages them...then...I'll use it hoping my business cards will have a longer shelf-life.

Janine, I think this is a very forward thinking thing to do and I'm certain you're ahead of the pack in doing this. Soon EVERYthing is going to carry a QR code, especially with the proliferation of smart phones.

Here's a fun way that a QR code was just used at the Webby Awards...

I'm thinking of putting one on my car window when I go to the mall, tie it to analytics and see how many access it.

I applaud you for keeping of with the times. Actually, like Tess said, I think you are ahead of the times right now. Please do let us know how using the QR code on your business card is received. I am interested to find out.

Janine - I had to tell you that just before I closed out of the thread, I caught site of the QR code in your original post. I ran and grabbed my iPhone, downloaded a QR reader and tested it out. Worked like a charm.

Do you know if a QR code would work on a t-shirt? I think that would be kind of cool too.

Darlene...yes a QR code on a tee-shirt would work beautifully. I just posted a link above to the Webby awards where the attendee put a code on her dress and 100 people scanned her in an hour.

I also saw a QR code on a piece of paper sent to an HR rep from an applicant looking for a job. He wanted, obviously, to have his resume stand out so he attached his resume to the code which got the attention of several employers who thought he was creative. (That won't work for most jobs but I have been more aware of where they are showing up.)

Now if people would only make their website mobile-friendly....
