I'm having my friend who is a designer redesign my business card and logo. I'm attaching the back of my business card.
What do you guys think if I add a call to action on the bottom of the business card since there is some space there? I was thinking of adding: "5% off your first invoice with this card"
I personally don't see anything wrong with offering a discount on a service, first-time or whatever. Some people don't think it's a good idea. But if it will get you a new client or have someone try your services then I think it is an ok thing to do. It's really a personal decision and whether you think you can benefit from it or not.
Thanks, I think I'm going to get back to him tomorrow and ask him to add it. I think it would be a good way to give someone the incentive to try my services and get 5% off their first invoice.
I'm new to this but I'm not new to writing articles for regional parenting pubs. So if I have an editor interested in an article and they don't offer as much as some other RPPs, I always accept the first offer. For me that means now that I have an "in" with an editor, my name will be in the front of their mind the next time when I send out another article.
I don't believe in selling yourself short but I think your initial discount is a good hook like somebody said earlier.
A call to action is a great idea on your business card. It could also be a conversation starter for those who might be on the fence and see that they could get a discount to try you out.

I think this is a great idea. It is all about getting clients. One thing I want to mention is maybe a statement that states, First Time Clients. OR someting along those lines. Unless you are good with giving a discount to an existing client.
@Jenn, that's why I wrote in my original post "5% off your first invoice" since existing clients will already have paid their first invoice. I feel like many people get business cards and probably throw them out or misplace them since there isn't anything drawing them to the card. I'm hoping that 5% off might be an incentive for a couple of PC's to take action. I have very little space left on the card so I would have to keep the call to action short.

This is a great idea and I was thinking about doing this, this weekend. I created my own business cards a few weeks ago and when I say 'homemade', I mean it lol. They weren't horrible, but they weren't professional either.
I will probably post back in a few days to show you all the outcome.
