Default What would the best way be.....
What would the best way be to double check if a name is not already taken throughout the net? I have a name I would like to try but not sure if it is taken. I know godaddy is a good one but wasn't sure if there are others to check it on as well. Also not sure of a tagline to match the name but im sure it will fall into place soon.

You can always just Google the name and see what comes up.

You could also check with your STATE and see if the name was registered.

We did this when my husband started his business. In most states, you can go to the Secretary of State's website and they have a place to search for businesses. In Missouri, you can search by "starts with" and the such. Then like PamH53 said, you can just Google and see it. That is how we found out the name we likes was being used by a company in TX.

thanks for the information everyone. Turns out I am going to have to think a tiny bit more on it. I have a logo I want to use but have to find the right name to match and soooo many of the names I thought of are taken already. so back to the drawing board again ugh!!

A quick suggestion is that when you land on some names (and I highly recommend you think of 3 or so) run them past people here on the forums & your friends and family to get their impressions. Kinda having your own focus group. Encourage them to be brutally honest because you will have emotion and your own taste into whatever you choose - which is ok too. However, you want to make sure everyone else gets what you are trying to get across with your name.

Be sure it is going to be a name that will allow your business to grow. So as you are thinking of names, think of what all you may want to expand into.

Hope this is of some help.
