Exclamation is it a weird business name?
Sorry to start new thread, but I need as many opinions as possible...

I spent most of the day thinking about how to name business avoiding word solutions/services, simply because it looks that all of the names are taken here in UK

I read my brand management book, and tried to think about something catchy, memorable, and probably different.

I like color blue - because it is calming, relaxing etc.
I thought about Blue Office with tagline Calming solutions for your business

When I looked for domain name, www.blueoffice.co.uk was for sale for £149, stating about the opportunity for good brand. www.blue-office.co.uk is for normal sale price like £5 for one year.

I think if worked & implemented properly, this name with tagline is nice concept, but I really wish to hear honest advise, because maybe I am just too excited..

Thanks Ladies!

To me the name "Blue Office" conjures up an image of a sad, depressed office staff. When someone is "blue" this means that they are sad. Whereas, yes, the color blue is calming, but the word blue signifies sadness.

Additionally I would try to stay away from domain names that have a dash (-) or an underscore (_). I used a domain name with a dash years ago, and it always caused problems. Either people forgot the dash (and got a different website) or they put a underscore and the link would not work. It was very frustrating.

I think you are on the right track with the naming and tag line, it just needs a little work.

Best of Luck,
Julie

when you mentioned blue the first thing I thought about was like an ocean or a wave in an ocean or water, or even the sky. I agree that blue office sounds a bit sad. I also wanted a different name for mine which is why I really had to think on it and come up with words or ideas anywhere and everywhere. I took a notebook with me everywhere I went and finally got my name. Run with different forms of blue if you really like it. Like find different words that may still mean it but isn't really the actual word. Hope this helps some.

I've also been struggling with a new business name since I'm renaming my business. I discovered after networking for over 6 months - everyone remembered me and knew what I did but couldn't remember my business name!! I agree with the other comments about blue. Maybe you could use blue at your website or in the color of the wording of the business name. Here is what helped me. www.MadetoStickcom. This book states 6 principles of making an idea memorable. I found it very helpful.

At least with Sapphire you can still have your SOS as well.

SOS idea is really nice, however, I found another company, which uses SOS

I really struggled with naming my businesses at first too, until I got really clear on my target market and then I found it when I got really clear on who I was going to be selling my services too. That said, I also though blue sounded sad. But I like the idea of calming solutions...I do like the idea of a play on the word blue, like sapphire.

Here's some ideas off the top of my head...How about...
From Chaos to Calm
Business Solutions for (insert target market here)

Clear Sky Virtual Assistance
The Calm after the Office Storm

Blue Sky Office Solutions
Bringing Calm back to your office

You mentioned using the word EXTRA...how about

Extra Executive Assistant
Extra Executive Solutions
Extra Effort

Maybe something with your name in it might help too...first and/or last name to distinguish it.

Hope this helps!
