Default VA Business Address
Do you have to have your business address on your website? Is it ok to just have the city and state and tel #? I do not have a PO box set up yet and would like to get my website up and running soon.

I think putting your city and state is fine if you do not have a PO Box. I do not list my home address on my website either (I have a PO Box on my site) although I do have it on my business cards as "mailing address".

You can give out your mailing address as needed to your clients.

I second Rebecka's post and see no need to put your whole entire personal address on the site - with or without a PO Box.

I would definitely check in to getting a po box, though. The local box cost me $10/6 months.

It is not very expensive here. It is $34 for 6 months. I planned on getting one, but I won't be able to get one until next week and I did not want to put the site up if needed to have one. Thanks for the advice.

I actually have my address on my site and, after reading everyone's suggestions, now I think I should remove it.
I live in a pretty rural area so it's not very likely that anyone will "pop in" but there will always be that "one" who feels the need to. LOL

Thanks,
Christina

UPS stores give a street address and po box. I don't know the charge, but I believe it differ in each area.

Hope this was helpful.

Hello,

I have my address on my website as well as all promo materials. It gives the clients a sense that you are a "real" business and they feel they can contact you directly if they need to.

To be honest, with the various Internet search capabilities now, if someone really wanted your home address, they could easily obtain it, so while you may believe you are adding a layer of protectioin -- in reality, it's a very thin layer.

For individuals who choose not to put their address on the web site, the post office and UPS can provide a PO box, and you can use the address, calling the PO # suite -- For example. 222 American Drive, Suite 222 (which is actually the post street office address and po box number). Individuals will not know the difference -- unless you need to schedule a face-to-face meeting -- and you can rent a meeting room in an office suite or meet over lunch in a restaurant.

Yours,

you americans are lucky - it costs £50 for 6 months in the UK! that's really expensive, on my site, I have my county and state on it (kent, england); which is okay. However, when clients e-mail me I will have my full mailing address as my signature.
