Default Somebody stop me!
I have been running branding stuff through my head for a year (literally). I started out using the name Mosaic, but through research realized that it is a business name that is often used. So, now I have the name, but I am not going to be able to brand myself until I figure out what I want to use for my website.

Oi! There are so many ideas jumbling around in my head. I know what I would like as my logo, website, etc. However, I think it would put off potential local clients and that is my "target market". I am coming to the realization that local clients will bring me the most money as I would like to make myself available to people who do need an "in-house" admin sporadically.

I'm so hung up on perfection and getting it all right that I feel like I'll never start. Ug!

Someone pull the plug on me immediately...

Eyreka,

How much $$ have you set aside for logo/website/marketing. For a small amount you can buy a domain and host for a short time and see how that feels. If it works you can continue if not let it expire. Now I am not recommending that you do this as so much time and effort are put into websites and branding but you can rebrand if it just does not feel right.

Now to pull the plug. Find the final three choices you just can't live without. Talk to family and friends for input and sleep on it. The right one or two will come to you. But while you are waiting for that to happen, get the rest of things in place, contracts, rates, make some lists, what you want, don't want, like, don't like , services, billing, payment, write your bio and start thinking like a business/man/woman. There is always something that needs to get done.

Hope I helped a little.

Eyreka,

I know it's been several weeks since you posted this, but I am curious if you had made any decisions on branding for your business. I understand the struggles with perfection, however, I also know that perfection can sometimes lead to procrastination. We have all begun our businesses as "newbies" and over time and through trial & error, statistics & analytics have molded and shaped our businesses into what they are today. What I'm trying to say is, take it easy on yourself...it will all come together!

I have come up with a new approach. I've decided to go with a very simplistic WP layout and I've created a name that isn't likely to be used in the world of virtual assistance. I've done a ton of inspiration reading to get to that point, but I wanted to really put the "smack down" on my brand. I have been loving www.zenhabits.net and http://chrisguillebeau.com/. I'm super happy with what I've chosen:

The Iconoclast Assistant

Providing an unconventional approach to administrative assistance...

Hi Eyreka,

Just took a look at your site. With your simplistic design you can go in any direction or leave it the way it is.

Great name too!!

Cheers!!
