Redesigning my logo
Hi Everyone,
I am thinking to redesign my website and logo.
My website name remains the same - The VA Portal. I am specialized in Social Media Marketing and Wordpress Management. Now, I want to redesign my logo. But, need some ideas. I want to have my business name in logo and want to show that I'm specialized in Social Media Marketing on Logo...
I have decided the color of the logo and need a concept and tag line for my website. Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you so much!

Re: Redesigning my logo
Hi Jessie, what about doing something based on just a textual representation of your business name - use a nice, simple font to write out the name of your company, but then surround it in a 'swirl' with the various SM icons... it would be easy to edit/update as new SM icons come into play or drop off the radar... and you could include the one for WP as well.
It's tough for me to envision how The VA Portal could really 'translate' into an actual graphic image, I don't know what that would look like - a doorway? A black hole? (Just kidding on that one!)
What kinds of design ideas have you been working with so far?

Re: Redesigning my logo
Hi Tess,
Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't get any response to this thread, probably because, I myself didn't have anything in my mind about my logo.
Here are some ideas - I would prefer one of these things in my logo - a woman's portray or a path or a gateway and some thing related to Social media (which is my main niche). Through my logo, people should be able to recognize my services
I want Blue and Green colors in my logo...
I have asked logonerds to design my logo, giving all the ideas and references. Let's see what will I get from them..
I have decided my tagline as - The Bedrock of your Online Presence
What do you think about my tagline?
Thanks Tess!

Re: Redesigning my logo
I like the logo concept. Not sure about the tagline, though. How does bedrock relate to a portal? I would think something more along the lines of "Helping build the gateway to your online presence" would make more sense.
I found the definition of portal to be:
por·tal (pôrtl, pr-)
n.
1. A doorway, entrance, or gate, especially one that is large and imposing.
2. An entrance or a means of entrance: the local library, a portal of knowledge.
So I would tie your tagline into the definition somehow.

Re: Redesigning my logo
Hi Lily,
Thank you so much for your input.
I have already told Logonerds to add my tagline - the bedrock of your online presence. And, I'm not sure whether I can change it now, though they haven't yet created my logo.
Actually I was thinking this way - Portal Means a gateway (which anyone will know), so I didn't bother to mention in the tagline
The VA Portal - Means A gateway that helps you put a solid foundation to your online presence.
Hence The VA Portal - the bedrock of your online presence.
Does it make sense? Let me know your opinion.
Thank you so much!

Re: Redesigning my logo
Tess and Lily,
I have come up with 2 +1 more taglines. Let me, whether it makes sense
1 - Discover the Gateway to your Online Presence
2 - Assisting you Build your online Presence (inspired by Lily's tagline suggestion)
3 - Of course Lily's tagline - Helping Build the Gateway to your Online Presence
Thank you for your advice and suggestions.

I like number 2. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Re: Redesigning my logo
Sorry, but Assisting You Build...sounds awkward to me. ;(
Forgive me, but I don't like any of these suggestions at all.
I think the use of gate depicts something closed as opposed to something being open.
I would start over, Jessie with better adjectives. I would think about your services and what you provide. 'We open your door to a brighter business' or something like that. (not that but it tells what it is you do.)
Helping Build the Gateway...is wordy. And the use of gateway to me, does not read well or catchy. What if they are are already online? They don't need their gateway built.
I just think this needs more work.
Jessie, Logonerds can change the tagline. You just need to ask Phil.
Janine

Re: Redesigning my logo
This is a tough one for me... I can appreciate what you're going for but like Janine, none of the listed options really hits home for me. I do think that a focus on adjectives related to your company name (VA Portal) is the right place to start.
If you have a tagline that doesn't gel or resonate well with your company name you end up with very disjointed branding (and will have a tougher time creating marketing campaigns that really speak to the client).
With all that said, I think you're starting from a difficult place to begin with, with your company name - it doesn't give any clue as to what you do, so your tagline should definitely enlighten at a glance.
I don't want to disappoint with my answer here, but 'portal' is just a tough word to work with.
Have you already gotten a logo back from LogoNerds? I'm very curious to see how they portrayed the concept!
