OK I'm still narrowing my target market, but I know it's in the Organic/Natural products industry, probably the manufacturing and marketing companies. So how does the name "Treehouse Administrative Services" sound? I'd shorten it to Treehouse Admin in conversations, I think.
My husband doesn't think anyone would take it seriously because it sounds too cutesy, but I think it's adorable. Is it bad to have a business name that puts people in mind of a preschoolers TV show?
I like Treehouse, but I can see your husband's point. However, it does set you apart from the rest. I mean, there are businesses with names like Shoebox Greetings, the Blue Pig Restaurant and more. While their names might not be mainstream, they are certainly ones people remember.
You can always go with a name of a tree instead of saying Treehouse Admin, you can have a name like Evergreen Admin Services or something. Perhaps a name earthy in nature or eco-something or other. You get the drift. You will get there, keep brainstorming and it will come!
I like Treehouse but I'm not 100% convinced it's perfect. I like the way your thinking and think staying along those lines is a great idea. My personal opinion (just MY opinion) don't get "too green" in your name so you don't make other potential clients NOT contact you but since you are focusing on green organizations I definitely think you should go along that route. (Hope that makes sense.)

I agree with your husband. When I read "Treehouse" I did think of something to do with kids. What about the name "Evergreen Administrative Services"? It keeps you on the same track as the treehouse but you don't think preschool. I think your idea on where you'll be focusing is great. Whenever you have a great plan you do stand out as the go-to person when people need administrative services.
I think of Treehouse TV for preschoolers as well. But, that's only because I have kids. Something ecological is a good idea.
I also respectfully disagree with Lanel about not getting too green. On the contrary, if you want to attract green clients then the greener you are the better. You'll become the go to gal for clients who are green. There will be no mistaking who you are and what you do. You want to exclude everyone you don't want and the only way to do that is to identify yourself to your target audience as the green VA. Then, market yourself as such. Don't worry about leaving anyone out. Clients need to know who they can go to for help. If you don't tell people who you work with then they won't know either. Make sense?

It's more mature sounding (the kid in me loves treehouse, but I guess if I"m dealing with adults, I better act like one ) So far the only bad thing I've found about the name Evergreen is an investment management company that got in trouble with the SEC 8 years ago, so I doubt there would be many negative connotations associated with the name now.
Perhaps, but perhaps not. When I heard about that name, Everygreen, that company you mentioned didn't enter my mind. In fact, I never heard about it. So I would think it'd be alright to use it.
If you are still unsure about using Evergreen, perhaps think of another tree name?
