Re: My Proposed Business Name
I like the name but are you really going to be available 24/7? If you have others working for you, that's realistic but if you're a solo operation, well....
Keep in mind that you're marketing to Attorneys, as well, who may take you literally.
Just some things to think about.

Re: My Proposed Business Name
Thanks Kim I hear your advice and yes I will have to be careful but I will be in a partnership with one other VA so between us we should be able to be available 24/7 God willing. What did you think of the taglines any suggestions on which one would be more appropriate?
I am quite new to all of this and feel so scared and excited all at the same time. Have you been in this business for long?

Re: My Proposed Business Name
I just noticed that you're in the UK! I'm working with some folks from the UK now. The tag line isn't jumping out at me, although I'm not sure how to make it stronger. What about "always on for you"?
If you're looking to partner with someone in the US, let me know. I've been doing this for almost 3 1/2 years. I really do like it, everyday is something new.
What made you decide to take this path?

Re: My Proposed Business Name
I would definitely be wary of offering '24/7' assistance. Having worked for 2 different attorney offices i can almost guarantee that you will get panicked phone calls at 3am (I did As an EMPLOYEE!!).
I'm glad you dropped the 'limited' from your name, too, as I don't think you want the impression that your SERVICES are limited!
I, personally, LIKE having 'virtual' in my name as I WANT to be 'internet-y' to my clients so they know I am reachable no matter WHERE I happen to be located.
o.K., jumping off my soapbox now (I'll try not to sprain an ankle when I land )

Another suggestion - Your Legal Assistant.
I agree with several of the comments - keep a pencil and pad nearby and everytime you think of a name jot it down. The list can get long - and crazy - but you'll narrow it down and find the name you like.

This is an excellent suggestion. Someone probably has it though so try to find a different spin on it, but that is short, sweet, and to the point.

Hi Cassandra:
IDK where the sexual connotation comes from; I didn't think that when I read VirtuallyLegal. I do feel that it helps to have the word "virtual" in your site name for seach engines to find you as a virtual assitant. Good luck!
Lisa.

Re: My Proposed Business Name
Hi Cassandra,
I'm going to take a totally different perspective and suggest you use some combination of your own legal name (Cassandra ___ Services, Cassie's Desk, Assistance by Cassandra, etc.) as the company name.
I know, I know. That's not very exciting, maybe it even feels a little egotistical, and it doesn't say anything about what kind of assistance you'll offer. But take it from someone who wishes now she'd listened to that advice from other seasoned VAs herself...it can save you some grief later.
First, consider this: there are thousands of small businesses out there. If someone else turns up with the same creative business name as yours somewhere down the line, you have a far greater chance of a court ruling that you must be allowed to continue using the name you chose if it contains your own legal name.
Secondly, things can change. Believe me, I know.
I LOVE my business name, Admin Maven. I researched and pondered and experimented long and hard before I made it official. I love administrative work, too, so it seemed perfect. And I've always been a writer and a compulsive proofreader, but I figured that would simply be my VA specialty.
Well, here I am three years later, and as it turns out my entire body of client work has had almost zero to do with "admin." In fact, right now 100% of my clients are looking to me for writing and editorial assistance. Where's the "admin" in Admin Maven?
So lately I've been toying with the question of whether to completely rebrand my business--including printed materials, Web site, advertising plans I've already paid for, etc., UGHHH!--to reflect more accurately what I typically do for clients. So far, I have reasoned that as long as I still OFFER admin assistance (whether anyone takes me up on it or not), the name will do. But I sure do get a lot of funny looks when I introduce myself as a freelance writer and then hand over my mismatched business card!
So, long story short--make sure the name you choose leaves your business room to grow and evolve. Technology, your preferences, your schedule and availability, and the demands of the market may all influence your business in a different direction some time down the road.

Re: My Proposed Business Name
I agree with Sheila (TheLittleHelper). The name should speak what you do, what you stand for. Personally, I like just "Twenty4Seven" with a slogan below it maybe to further explain what you do. It just sounds easy to remember. Just a thought.

Re: My Proposed Business Name
If you're a strong enough character I'd stick with virtuallylegal - the UK sense of humour will love it, but you would need to be very ready with the witty comebacks... you might even pick up some clients who were looking for something else!
Or how about Legally Virtual??? It would be a great icebreaker when asked why you came up with the name to say "because virtually legal meant something else entirely!"
Good Luck
